CHAPTER 29
I wondered if I’d done the right thing by telling Junsu about Ji-hyun. Would she be mad at me if she knew? Maybe I should have made sure it was ok with her first. But I was sure she and Junsu would look cute together. He would bring out her innocent side. He was a guy she could definitely like—a lot. But that didn’t give me license to hook them up.
“Are you trying to sauté those onions or burn them?”
I looked at Jaejoong, who was leaning in the walkway.
“No…”
He walked to me and wrapped his arms around me from behind. It reminded me of the feel of Changmin arms around and I had to squeeze my eyes shut so I wouldn’t think of that. He kissed my cheek.
“I love you.” He said.
“I love you too. What did you put in this last time we made it?” I asked him.
We often cooked together now. He taught me recipes and I used them for dinners. He walked to the cabinet and took out a spice I didn’t use very much and sprinkled some in the pan with the onions. It smelled good…
“Jaejoong…” I had to say something. “What would say if I told you…I think we should…” But I couldn’t.
“We should what?”
“Well, that we—“
“Yah!” Yunho came into the kitchen. “Hyung, didn’t you hear me? I’ve been calling you. Oh…” He looked at me. “I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?”
I shook my head. It was obviously not the right time to tell Jaejoong what was on my heart.
“What do you need?” Jaejoong asked.
“Yoochun wants you to help him with a song.” Yunho motioned towards the hall.
“Ok.” He kissed my cheek again and promised, “We’ll talk later if there’s something you need to say.”
Once he was gone, I felt relieved. I almost made the mistake of breaking his heart. Yunho started to leave, then he stopped himself and looked at me.
“Is there something else you need, Yunho? Dinner will be ready in 15 minutes.”
He nodded. “Oh…ok… I was wondering…” He walked closer to me and lowered his voice like he was about to tell me a secret. He leaned toward me and asked, “Would Ji-hyun like a guy like me?”
A smile involuntarily spread across my face. Ooh, he likes her! Oh no, he likes her. But so does Junsu. Uh oh…
“Well…” Honestly, she would like him… But she’d like Junsu too. It had to be her choice and I couldn’t tell him this and risk him and Junsu fighting over a girl. “That’s not for me to say, Yunho. You really should ask her.”
“But you’re her best friend, right? Wouldn’t you know her type?”
“I suppose…but still, only Ji-hyun would know if Ji-hyun is interested in you. Why don’t’ you try asking her yourself? I can tell you one thing: she’s not into shy guys.”
This seemed to put an idea into Yunho’s head and he walked away nodding. I shook my head. What have you done, Sun-hi? What will Ji-hyun do with two guys trying to win her heart? What if she doesn’t like either of them? I decided not to worry about. Ji-hyun knew how to handle things on her own. This was between her and those two. I wouldn’t interfere unless she asked me to.
