CHAPTER 14
I ran after Jaejoong. I was almost catching up—the back of my cart could’ve touched his leg—when I looked up in front of us.
“Jaejoong stop!” I cried, pulling up suddenly. “Look out!”
We all yelled at the same time before Jaejoong stopped the cart right before it was about to hit two girls walking down the aisle. The stop was too sudden and the cart tipped over—with Changmin still in it.
“Ji-Hyun? Ae Cha?” I said, looked at their frightened, yet amused faces.
When Ae Cha saw me, her face darkened and she looked away. But Ji-hyun looked different. She had bleach her hair a lighter color—like dark honey brown—and she had cut her bangs.
“Hi, Sun-hi!” She exclaimed, pulling me into a hug. “It seems like it’s been forever! Although…we do see you in class. How have you been?”
I smiled up at her. “I’ve been good, thanks. How about you?” I looked from her to Ae Cha and back.
“Oh, we’ve been fine. Miss you though, right Ae Cha?” She elbowed Ae Cha in the side.
“Whatever.” Ae Cha mumbled.
Junsu climbed out of the cart and Changmin stood up rubbing his head. That’s when Ji-hyun recognized them.
“Oh my goodness, are you ok, Changmin?” I asked, pulling his head down so I could look at it.
He stood patiently and let me examine him until I was satisfied the accident hadn’t fractured anything. He was fine. He swung his arm and whacked Jaejoong.
“You said I was a bad driver? Aish, Jaejoong…”
Ji-hyun shook the star-struck, open-mouthed look from her face. She point, then quickly lowered her hand.
“That’s… You’re…” She let out a tiny squeal and grabbed Ae Cha arm. “Look, Ae Cha, it’s them! They’re so gorgeous! Oh my gosh! She’s so lucky to get to live with them!”
Ae Cha gave her a look. “Ya…right…”
After I got over the initial shock of seeing sporty Ji-hyun acting like a fangirl, I slapped my hand to my forehead.
“Yah! Sun-hi, what did you do that for?” Jaejoong asked in concern.
“I totally forgot!” I exclaimed. “I’m so sorry! I haven’t even introduced you guys yet. How rude of me. Ae Cha, Ji-hyun, this is Changmin, Jaejoong, and Junsu. Guys, these are my two bestest friends in the whole wide world, Ae Cha and Ji-hyun!”
The boys bowed, “Nice to meet you.”
And so did Ae Cha and Ji-hyun.
“Nice to meet you. Sun-hi has told us about you, but we’re glad to finally meet you.”
Ji-hyun nudged Ae Cha and she mumbled a half-hearted agreement. “Sure.”
“We’re grateful to you for helping Sun-hi out when she needed a job.”
“It was our pleasure.” Changmin replied.
I smiled at him. It felt good to hear him say that. Then Ae Cha frowned.
“Ya right! Like heck we are!” She burst.
Ji-hyun gave her a warning look. “Ae Cha!”
“No, Ji-hyun, they’re gonna hear that from me because I’m tired of this! You think you can have everything you want just because you’re famous, don’t you?” She spat.
