the state of denial

Chapter 1.

"Zack, Hayley. We need to tell you some very important news."

I take out my headphones and Zack pauses his video game. "Huh?" I respond.

"Your father and I have to leave a few months for work." I choke on air and finally let out words. "Are you saying we're moving!? Because I am NOT moving."

"No. No. No, we're going away a few months. You and Zack will stay here."

Excuse me? Am i imagining shit..? Because last time I checked, I was a total unresponsible wreck and Zack was the weird twin with party problems. I mean, Wtf.. I love this but have you gone insane !?

"Thats great !" Zacks smile is a mile wide. He knows what this means. "Your mother and I think you two are finally responsible enough. Everything is in the past. This is your new start. And we completely trust you.

We'll be leaving you guys a bank account, with money to pay the bills and extra money for your own personal use." Insane. "Alright sweet. So Hay. and I get to stay by ourselves!?"

"Yes. But you'll have to always answer our calls, texts, e-mails, ect." I jump up. "This is going to be so cool. We're gunna have to get a taste of the real life. And doing all you guys do.... This is going to be hard !" Dont blow cover Hay.

"Exactly why we're doing it. In two more years you guys are 18 and out of here. You need to learn responsibility."

"When are you guys leaving..? and where are you going?" Zack asks. "We actually leave tomorrow, first thing in the morning. We're going to Australia."

I honestly dont even know what my parents do for a living. I think it has something to do with marine biology, but they make a lot of money. So its all good.

I get up and walk downstairs to my room, take out my iPhone and text Dani.

Me: Guess what!?!?!?

Dani: Hey. whats up?

Me: i said guess what !? hint: guess which twins will be home alone for the next few months no parents.

Dani: You and zack alone? No parentals.O_o Umh, what !?

Me: Come over. NOW !

Dani: KK. be there in 5.(:

I change out of my sweats and put on some jeans and throw on an All Time Low shirt, plug in the iPhone into the stereo and hit shuffle. "Somebody Told Me." by The Killers.

Blast the stereo and dance around, until Zack goes in. "Is this some sort of prank?"

I pause the music. "Huh..?"

"This whole 'going away' thing."

Zack worries a lot, over nothing really. Me on the other hand. I really could care less. "I believe them. I mean, they've gone away before. And we are older."

"Two weeks ago i came home drunk. A month and a half ago, they caught you smoking a spliff. We are not good kids."

"Then it must be urgent and they need work people..? Just dont worry, they know what they're doing. You'll be able do do way more gigs now. Your band can go away for a bit."

"Yeah. Hey, yeah. You're right i do need to stop worring."

"Aren't i always." We walk back upstairs.

Zack turn his video game back on and the doorbell rings. I run to the door and open.

"Its about time !" Thinking its Dani.

"Hey Hayley." Taylor, Zacks girlfriend replies.

Damn bitch. Of all the people out there, she had to get with my brother. I'm pretty sure she does it on purpose. Because she know it makes my blood boil from the anger.
