Nicole's POV
This is the month to started to show. I could pass as being chubby, but my stomach is round so you could tell I was pregnant. This morning when I couldn't fit in one of my favorite tops, Doctor Ziegler decided it was time to go to the maternity section of the mall. While Delilah was at school, Justin and I went to the mall to get maternity wear. Please note, this is just a week away from trial; which is causing a ton of stress.
We found some stretchy pants and maternity shirts. Turns out, they aren't that ugly. I found a cute grey one, a black tank, a regular black shirt, and a stretchy red dress that I was going to wear at the trail, with a pair of red heels and a black cardigan. "Hey, these are cute. Do you want some?" Justin asked, pointing to the fuzzy socks. 2 for 1.00, who would say no. I grabbed four pairs, and we headed off to pay. "Wanna stop for some smoothies?" Justin asked as we walked to the car, shopping bags in hand. "Can we actually stop for lunch?" I asked. It was 2:00 pm, I haven't eaten since 11:00. "Sure, Wanna go to Petes?" Justin asked, it was a little cafe down the road that sold sandwiches and muffins, and other things like that.
"Mhm, now that you say that I can't wait to get one of their tuna sandwiches." I said, I could just taste the seeded bread and soft, creamy filling on my tongue. Justin parked the car in front of Petes, we got out of the car and went inside. While Justin was ordering the food, I sat at a table. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jasmine feeding Ryan bits and pieces of a cookie. I turned my face, hopefully my hair would hide me. The last person I wanted to talk to was her. "Here, I got you a lemonade, is that okay?" Justin asked, setting the tray with two sandwiches, two drinks, and a container of pink sugar cookies on the table. "Yeah, what's with the cookies?" I asked, taking a sip of lemonade and unwrapping my sandwich.
"Oh, the pink reminded me of Delilah so I bought them." Justin smiled softly. "How sweet, she'll love them." I said, taking a bite of the sandwich. "You see Jasmine?" I whispered, nudging my head to the direction she was sitting. "Ugh, I absolutely loathe that bitch now." Justin groaned. "I never thought she would do that to me." I said softly, an overwhelming sadness washing over me. "Don't get upset because of her, babe. She's not worth the trouble." Justin said, brushing his fingers over my cheek and leaning in over the table for a kiss. "Wait." I whispered. "I Think she's coming over here!" I whisper screamed.
"Calm down, be confident." Justin whispered as she made her way over here. "Nicole, please let me explain I-" Jasmine said, I quickly sliced into what she was saying. "There's nothing to explain! You betrayed me!" I said angrily. "I had to! Vanessa exaggerated the story, she said that you started it all! I didn't know what really happened!" Jasmine exclaimed. "Did that give you any right to stab me right in the back, to betray me like that?! You might be one of the reasons my daughter gets taken from me! Now get out of my sight." I said, my eyes watered. I just felt like giving her a hug and forgiving her, but I could never forgive her for what she has done to me. Jasmine bit her lip, I saw a tear slip on the charcoal black floor tiles. She gripped the stroller handles, slammed a tip on her table, and left the restaurant.
I wiped my tears off of my cheeks, and sucked in a breath of air. I needed to stop caring for her. We polished off our food, I left the devilishly disgusting sandwich crusts on the tray. It was about time to pick Delilah up, so that's where we went. "What the hell is she doing here?" I said, seeing my moms' dark blue van in front of the school. "I don't know, but I'm about to find out." Justin said, unbuckling himself an getting out of the car. I quickly went to the door, where my mom was standing, waiting for the kids to get out. "What are you doing here?" I whisper shouted, I didn't want the nosy moms putting their noses in my business. She pushed down her bronze sunglasses, which matched her royal blue blouse perfectly.
She pulled out a paper from her brief, and slid it in my hands. "Court Order; I get to spend three afternoons with Delilah until the trial." She said, folding her veiny hands. I scanned the paper, cursing under my breath. She was right. The door opened, and kids rushed out to their parents. "Gramma Cassidy!" Delilah said, surprised to see her. "Hello princess! You are going to be spending the afternoon with me, we are going to go see Disney on Ice, and then going somewhere to eat. Sounds good?" My mom asked Delilah, she nodded rapidly, large smile on her face. "Bye mommy, bye daddy, I love you!" Delilah said as she scurried off with my mom. "Bye." I whispered, waving.
