Nicole's POV
I peeked into the kitchen, smiling softly at what I saw. Delilah was shaking some sprinkles out of a tin onto some cookies with icing piped on them. She was standing on a chair, just so she could reach the counter. "Want the pink sprinkles?" I could hear Jasmine ask, and Delilah responded with a quick yes. Her face was so serious, lips pursed in concentration. It was so adorable, she was so focused. Jasmine is staying with us for a bit, she has a job and is using the money to pay us back for everything. But she doesn't have to do that in my opinion, she insists that's she does, though. She's five months pregnant now, she has decided on the name 'Lacie' for her baby girl.
I admit, I'm a tad jealous that Jasmine is absolutely sure she is having a girl. Unborn baby Noah's twin can be a boy or a girl. I kind of want a little baby girl as well, but if it's a boy I'd love him just as much. "Hey, whatcha doing?" I asked, waddling into the kitchen. Yup, I'm big enough to waddle now. And I still have two months left! Imagine when I'm nine months! I don't mind, though. Justins little talk with me gave me a burst of self confidence, so I feel a lot better about myself now.
"We baked cookies while you took a nap, mommy! Here, try some!" Delilah said, breaking off a piece of the cookie she just decorated and shoved it in my mouth. I laughed, holding a hand under my chin to catch stray crumbs. "Yummy, the babies say thank you for the snack!" I smiled, Delilah patted my stomach proudly. "You're welcome babies!" She said, kissing my tummy.
"What is my baby, chopped liver?" Jasmine pouted playfully. "Oh, sorry Lacie!" Delilah said quickly, giving Jasmine the rest of the cookie. "Lacie likes the cookie a lot." Jasmine nodded, licking the frosting off her fingers. "Where'd Justin go?" I asked. "He said he was going to get Delilah applied to Kindergarten ahead of time." Jasmine said, shaking sprinkles off her hands. "And Little Miss, did you have lunch yet?" I asked, she nodded. "I had a sammich and some grapes before we made cookies." Delilah said. "Okay, is Ryan napping?" I asked Jasmine. "Yeah, she was off like a light after she had played with Delilah." Jasmine said, placing the cookies in a Tupperware container.
"Delilah, go get your shoesies on, yeah? We are gonna head off to the store in a bit." I said. "Okay, can I wear my light up ones?" She asked. I looked at her clothes; A pink Aurora shirt and some leggings. "Sure, go ahead. Make sure to get socks!" I said as she went up to get her shoes. "Wanna go to the store with us?" I asked. "I'd rather stay with Ryan since she's asleep, can you pick up some rotisserie chicken?" Jasmine asked shyly. "Sorry, I've been really craving it. Here's ten bucks so you can pay for it.." Jasmine said, taking out a bill from her pocket.
"No, it's fine. They are only about 5 dollars, Jas!" I laughed. "I just don't want you to feel like I'm taking advantage of your kindness." Jasmine said. "Even if you were, I wouldn't care. Are my clothes okay? I don't want to look like I just woke up, even though I just did." I said, she looked at my clothes up and down. "The clothes are good, but you got a bed head." Jasmine said, going behind me and taking my hair band out. I could feel her knot my hair up in a bun. "Better, looks casual but nice." She nodded. "Well, see you in a bit." I said, kissing her cheek in a friendly manner.
I got my purse, which contained my phone and keys. "Delilah!" I called, I could hear her little feet scurry down the hardwood stairs. "Cmon, it's time to go to the store." I said, taking her hand and walking out to the car, shutting the door behind me. "Careful, Delilah." I said, gently nudging her bum up so she wouldn't fall back onto the gravel. I put her in her car seat, buckled her up, and shut the door. I got myself into the drivers seat, and drove the original route to the supermarket.
"Do we have granola bars?" I asked Delilah, looking at the prices of the Nature Valley ones. I only buy the chewy ones, the regular ones are a crumbling mess that get over the carpet. "Yeah, the crawnberry ones, remenember?" She said, I remembered that we have about four bars left. I grabbed another box and placed it in the cart. So far, we have strawberries, a watermelon, apples, celery, spinach, milk, and the granola bars. We still need to get deli ham, eggs, crackers, and hamburger meat for the little home barbecue we are having tomorrow.
