Nicoles POV
I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyelids with my knuckles lightly. There was a blanket wrapped around my body, under that I was wearing Justin's shirt and my underwear. As I felt around the warm sheets, I couldn't feel Justin's smooth biceps or soft hair in my fingers. Where did he go? What if he left? My mind started creating horrible scenarios, and I shook myself out of that. He wouldn't do that, he isn't that kind of person. Right.
I laid back down, eyes fluttering shut. I wasn't sleeping, just resting my eyes. I could hear the door creak open, there was slight clattering and footsteps. "Babe, babe wake up, this tray is kinda heavy." Justin whispered, fingers brushing my cheek. I pretended to barely wake up, stretching slightly. "What's this?" I yawned, as I sat up. He placed a wooden, chiseled breakfast tray on my lap. There was scrambled eggs with chives, mini waffles, fruit salad, pads of butter and a small gravy boat filled with maple syrup, a cup filled to the rim a raspberry smoothie, and a slim vase with a single daisy slid inside.
"Wow Justin, thank you." I said, hand on his neck as I pulled him into a sweet kiss. He crawled into bed next to me, as I slid a piece of egg in my mouth. "Ah." I said, gesturing him to open his mouth as I held a fork with a waffle chunk placed on it. He parted his lips, and I slid the fork in his mouth. "Mmm, I am a good cook. aren't I?" Justin smiled, cocking a eyebrow up. "You made this?" I said, muffled by the eggs in my mouth. "Mhm, I just followed the recipes Jasmine sent me, she said they were your favorites." Justin said.
"Oh, well you did everything perfectly, babe." I said, finger barely bopping his soft lips. He leaned over the tray, lips brushing the tip of my nose. "You tease, just kiss me." I said, slipping a hand on the back of his neck and pulling him in closer. Our lips smashed together, his lips tasted like sweet maple syrup. He moved the tray, soft puffs of breath coming out. As he pulled me on his lap, I yelped in pain, I was still extremely sore waist under. I quickly disconnected the kiss and stood up carefully, inner thighs aching.
"I'm still sore from..last night babe." I said, shirt brushing my thighs. "I'm so sorry baby girl, I would never hurt you purposely." Justin said, eyes looking into mine. "I know you would never hurt me on purpose, what time is it?" I asked, crawling back next to him under the sheets. "12:36." He answered, wrapping a secure arm around my torso.
"12:36?! Babe, I gotta get Delilah to school, it's late." I said, quickly pushing the sheets away and pulling myself to my feet. "Calm down, I took care of it. She's at school, teeth brushed, socks ruffled, dress poofed, hair done, lunch made. I can be a parent, too." Justin said, voice sounding slightly hurt. "I didn't mean it like I didn't trust you, babe." I said, brushing my thumb against his palm. "It sure felt like it, though." He said, voice sounding as if he was going to cry.
"I'm sorry." I said quietly, I could see him blinking rapidly, he was forcing the tears back. "You know what an amazing father you are? If you are questioning that, I want you to know this. Delilah loves you so much, you know that? She always talks about you, always asks where you are. Even when she's grumpy or tired, you never fail to make her smile. Just because you weren't there for a part of her life doesn't make you a bad father." I said, stroking his shoulder as he cried quietly.
"You don't get it. I missed her first smile. First feeding. First laugh. First two teeth. First steps. First words. First birthday. First bite of food. First pair of shoes. First everything, I missed it! I feel horrible about that." Justin said. I was silent, I couldn't say anything. "It's stupid, I'm sorry." Justin sniffed slightly, wiping his face. He took steady breaths, and he calmed his breathing down. "It isn't stupid. Cmon, you wanna finish this? It'll get cold." I said, bring the tray back on our laps.
"You know what we haven't done in a while?" Justin said, as he stroked my hair. "Mm?" I said, gesturing him to answer. "We haven't golfed in a while." He said, snuggling closer to me. "When have we ever golfed?" I asked. "Remember when your hair got stuck in that giant dogs leash and you had to stand there with your neck crooked for 10 minutes while I got the knot out?" Justin said, and I started remembering that day. "Now I remember, that was so scary." I said the doc was literally up I my waist, and I had rather long hair back then. It was so windy that day, and my hair got stuck in the dogs collar.
