HYDRA Base, Sokovia- 1950

"Begin." The HYDRA trainer said as the 2 female assets began to spar. The remaining 13 of the year old Project Achilles stood in a circle around them and watched.

They may be physically 6 months old but had the agility of a 25 year old. They could all throw a punch and flip out of the way. They were becoming the assassins that they were made to be.

After a 5 minute spar, Number 25 had Number 17 in a choke hold.

"That is enough." The trainer said causing Number 25 to let go of the struggling Number 17.

"Number 30 against Number 21." Number 30 and Number 21 scrambled into the middle of the circle.

"Begin."

----------

After three hours, each girl had sparred two other girls. Just as there was about to be another sparing session, Zola walked in. All the girls stood in a line standing up straight with their heads held high.

"Number 18 and Number 16 come with me." Zola commanded. The two girls stepped forward in sync and followed behind him; neither of them showing fear in their eyes.

They followed him to the lab where they were met with Number 3 and Number 11 who had been escorted from weapon training by Meyer. The lab contained 4 beds with varied tones of purple coloured fluids hanging in IVs. The 4 assets looked at each other wondering what was happening.

"All of you lie in a bed each." Zola ordered. Without any hesitation, all 4 sprung into a bed each and lied down. 4 other scientists hooked them up to machines that monitored their vitals. Meyer attached a different IV to each of them. Neither of the 4 showed any emotion in their eyes and had no reaction to the IV needle going into them. "You are all to stay still until we come back into the room." Zola informed as all the scientists exited the lab.

The 4 assets stayed put. All that could be heard was the heart monitors representing each of their hearts beating in a steady rhythm. Opposite the 4 beds was a mirrored window in which the scientists were looking through to study their every move.

"If all goes well, at least one of them should better hearing then they already have. They can all currently hear 30kHz which is higher then the average human but one of these serums should increase it to 100kHz. Which ever one has the best result, we will give it to the other assets." Klaus began to read out his report.

"Let's begin then shall we." Zola replied.

Klaus Meyer sent a nod to a scientist who began to press buttons on his computer. "Inserting serum in 5...4...3...2...1...serum is being inserted."

On the other side of the window, the 4 assets could feel the serum being inserted into them. After a few seconds, a sharp pain was felt in each of their ears. The pain continued to grow and become worse causing them all to let out screams. These screams weren't carried further then the soundproof walls.

The scientists could see their mouths letting out screams of horror but they all turned a blind eye and focused of the experiments' vitals.

"Number 11's heart rate is reaching dangerously high." One scientist called out.

Zola and Meyer rushed over to the scientist and analysed the heartbeat.

Meyer then ran over to Number 11's brain scan. The results were showing that it as too much for him. "Sir, he's not going to make it." Meyer informed Zola. Arnim replied with a nod of acknowledgement.

Another couple of minutes later, the room was met with a flat line and 3 irregular heartbeats. The scientists looked towards the window and saw there was no more serum in the IV bags. They saw that they were no longer screaming. They noticed that 3 of them were staring at the ceiling as if nothing had just happened. They looked towards Number 11 and could see the pools of blood that had been flowing out of his ears.

Arnim and Klaus both walked into the lab and signalled the other scientists to follow. They all began to unhook the three survivors from their machines and IVs whilst Zola and Meyer walked towards Number 11.

"He took the strongest dose." Klaus informed him in which he replied with a nod. He looked towards the other three who were now standing by their beds waiting for their next instructions.

Meyer pulled out a small device from his pocket. "I want you to put your hand up as soon as you can hear a beeping noise made by this machine." This was followed by him pushing a button.

After 14 seconds, Number 3 raised his hands. After another 6 seconds Number 16 raised hand which was later followed by Number 18 raising her hand 9 seconds after. Meyer turned off the device and put it back in his pocket. "You three may go back to your supposed lessons now." He informed them before they walked towards the door and left.

"Number 3 could hear 80kHz and the two girls could hear 72kHz and 66kHz. Number 11 was give the strongest so I will have that copied so the other 26 can receive their dose tomorrow." Meyer wrote down whilst notifying Zola.

"Excellent. Ensure the lab is ready for them tomorrow. Someone dispose of the body. Make sure it is burned and the ashes dumped somewhere where no one will find." Zola said with no sorrow in his voice. He didn't care that a child of 6 months had just died from one of his experiments. This is because they weren't children to him. They were experiments, assets that he could use to make sure HYDRA has a strong future. He had no remorse for killing a 6 month old baby. He just believes it's just another lab rat that he has to use to succeed. It was just a number that could be disposed of and forgotten about.

They all were.

They all were
