It was their third and final day in Redwood back, Alex's injuries were almost healed and all the pack members of the former lupus fang pack were settled. All the packs did everything to the best of their abilities but there was only enough that they could do. They could heal the bodily injuries, physical wounds but the mental injuries and emotional wounds could only be healed with time.
Alex was sitting in front of Adele's tree. Adele was an earth fairy, Earth fairies have earth magic, and they need to form a connection between themselves and the magic of mother earth to channel magic effectively. Most earth fairies build the connection through a tree, plant a seed with a part of their magic in it, the magic in the seed connects with the magic of earth and builds a connection in form of roots. The growth of the tree shows the growth of the magical power of the fairy. Most earth fairies planted the seed during their teenage years when they have a better understanding of their magic, some plant their trees only after meeting their mate. But Adele planted two seeds, one when she turned thirteen and another after meeting Alias. The trees kept the magic of an earth fairy alive even after their death. Adele died hours after they brought her back from the Lupus fang pack, her body was shutting down after years of torture and starvation. Adele was taken hostage after the attack on the Majestic claw pack. She was more than a hundred and fifty years old now, she would have lived up to two hundred like any earth fairy under normal conditions. At first, Alex couldn't believe Adele was held hostage by the Lupus Fang pack but he knew his informer would never lie to him. He couldn't understand why she was held hostage but he understood everything after he came to know about the rogue pups. The Lupus Fang pack tried to used her powers to grow wolfsbane, they would have grown it like any other plant but growing wolfsbane was impossible. Wolfsbane was magical in itself, there was a saying about wolfsbane in the magical world, that it feeds on hatred, but you can't grow it. It was said that wolfsbane couldn't be cultivated but it would grow when people don't want it to grow, hidden away from everyone's sight. It was also a reason why wolfsbane could only be found in the supernatural black market or growing wild in nature. But there was a loophole in the saying about wolfsbane and the Lupus Fang pack wanted to take advantage of the loophole. But from what Alex knew they didn't succeed and tortured Adele. They wanted her to grow wolfsbane for them but she refused and the price of that refusal was lifelong imprisonment but that wasn't it, the former alpha cut Adele's tongue off for some sick reason.
Fairies like Adele, or a half breed like Alex and Spencer, were rare in the shapeshifter community, so people wanted to capture those with additional powers and use them. Aside from Michael and Alex, no one knew about Alex's powers till now but everyone outside the Shadow Blood pack speculated that there was something that made Alex different from other omegas or alphas. This was the main reason why people were trying to capture Alex, and someone behind the scenes was guiding those people. It only proved that there was someone out there who knew something that even Alex didn't know.
"Guide me, mother earth," Alex hugged Adele's tree, asking for her guidance in his path of unveiling the truth about his existence.
Alex walked towards the Redwood pack closing the territory of the once majestic Lupus fang pack. The place that was still inhabited by wolfs four days ago, the place that wasn't really buzzing with people but still somewhat alive was dead now. Ruins of what once was the Lupus fang pack were standing there in the middle of the snow that was still tinted with the blood of wolf's that fought for things that they believed in. The fall of the Lupus fang pack wasn't as majestic as Alex had thought but maybe the madness had already eaten up all the strength of the Lupus fang pack and what was left was only the hollow shell that carried enough stories to scare people off. Or was there another mystery?
Alex sighed and turned around to walk back to the Redwood pack when he heard light footsteps. Normally he wouldn't have been able to pick the sound up but because the forest was silent he could hear even the slightest movement near him. He turned around only to see a small figure emerging from an abandoned house. It was a small boy, he looked no older than six years old and he was clutching something tightly to his chest. Alex walked towards the kid making sure to make enough sound to not startle the poor kid. The kid looked up when he heard the approaching footsteps, he took a step back when he saw Alex's approaching figure but he didn't cower away. Even though the kid was scrawny, was wearing clothes a size too big for him, that made him look even extra small but he looked at Alex with a heated gaze. Like he was trying to say I am not scared of you, but at the end of the day he was still a child, his innocent eyes and face couldn't hide his fear. He was like a little pup standing there with his hackles raised. Alex stopped at a safe distance in front of him not wanting to scare the child any more than he already was.
