"Have you gotten everything you need?" Walburga asked, trying to balance a mountain of packages on her arms. "I might have slightly overshopped." She breathed out as one of them toppled over and fell on the snow-covered ground.

"Slightly?" I rose a brow. "Wal, I thought I was an impulsive spender until I met you. One might think you are allergic to money with the way you are throwing it around." I tsked, watching her struggle with great amusement.

"Well, I needed to get presents for myself as well. Christmas is for everyone." The brunette said, stressing the last word as if to get her point across. Indeed, it was. I had gotten my friends what I hoped were spectacular presents and could not resist treating myself as well. Rosy-cheeked, we stamped to keep warm vainly, and I could already feel my toes going slightly numb in my boots.

The cold winter had wrapped the little town of Hogsmeade in a snowy embrace, making the world appear as pristine as a book ready to be inked with new stories. A gentle breeze swept by and I lifted my head into the wind, observing the softly lit place. I felt serene at the sight of winter that I associated with home.

My eyes travelled over the place until they caught the sight of a shop across the street.

Perhaps it was the cold affecting my head, nevertheless, I knew what I needed to do last before I left Hogsmeade.

"I need to do one more thing. You can go to The Three Broomsticks and get warm. I will be there shortly." Without waiting for a response, I marched away from the girl and towards the shop that had caught my attention earlier with all the eye-catching, peculiar jewellery on the display window.

The soft sound of the bell echoed around the small space as I entered, the warmth hitting me in the face pleasantly. An old man was at the front desk, looking frail and tired while listing through a book, apparently unaware of my presence.

I approached him with small strides and cleared my throat to gain his attention.

His head shot up in surprise, and I assumed he was not used to having customers at his shop. "Oh, hello, dear. What may I assist you with?" the man smiled kindly, eyes alight with happiness.

Taking in a breath, I made my choice. "The ring on the display...the one with the head of a snake, I would like to purchase it."

It was a present for the devil.
