My eyes felt heavy as I forced them to open, the blinding light from the windows making me regret my decision. I groaned uncomfortably as I tried to sit up, but then the curtains around me snapped open and a middle-aged woman hurried over to me. She started fussing over me, handing me different positions to consume before she helped me sit up in the bed.
"How long-" I croaked out and coughed once realising how dry my throat was. The matron immediately rushed over with a glass of water and I drank it gratefully. "How long was I unconscious for?" I asked her, my voice a tad bit better now that I was hydrated.
"Three days, dear." She answered with a worrisome gaze.
Then it hit me. I was in an unfamiliar place.
"Where am I?" I asked, my voice panicked and the matron looked at me quizically before replying.
"Hogwarts..." Her voice trailed off and I sighed in relief. Before I could ask another question, we were joined by two more people. One whom I immediately recognized. My eyes widened as I regarded Dumbledore, who looked younger than last I saw him, his beard was not as long and his face not as troubled. Not to mention his attire was much more different than what he usually wore.
"You have finally awoken." began the man standing next to Dumbledore. "I am Headmaster Dippet. What is your name?" He asked gently, his voice kind and patient. I instantly liked the man, however, the only person I trusted in this castle except for myself was Albus Dumbledore.
"Camila Arwen Laurent, sir. But Arwen is fine." I told him. "May I speak with Professor Dumbledore?" I asked hesitantly, observing Dippet's features in order to judge his reaction. He seemed surprised as did Dumbledore, so I quickly made up a lie. "My parents knew Professor Dumbledore and instructed me to speak to him as soon as I arrived."
Dumbledore regarded me carefully before nodding his head. "Very well. Armando, if you will allow." Headmaster Dippet looked ready to protest but shook his head instead and sighed. After casting another glance my way, he left the hospital wing, leaving me alone with Dumbledore. My tense muscles relaxed and I waved my hand to cast a silencing charm around us.
"Before I begin my explanation, could you tell me the date?" I asked with a small smile as his eyebrows rose in surprise at my request. I noticed as a familiar twinkle appeared in his eye, indicating that he must have realized that I was a time traveller. However, he would soon realize that was not the only thing I identified as.
"September sixth, 1942." His reply made me sigh in relief. I landed at the perfect time. Without any explanation, I reached into my pocket and took a crumpled letter that future Dumbledore gave me to deliver to his old self.
