"Legilimens!"
"Come on, moya dorogaya. You are the flame keeper. Channel it from within you, bring it to the surface!"
I stood on a balcony overlooking a forest somewhere in Russia. My attention was focused on the woods underneath me, and I felt myself straining in order to bring my power to the surface.
I soon realised this was the memory of me when I had first displayed my abilities to the man located behind me, his nails digging into my shoulder painfully as he kept encouraging me to work.
He bent down slowly, his nasty breath fanning my ear. "You are a descendant of Merlin for fucks sake! Act like it! Show me what you are capable of." He hissed, and I had to choke back my tears from how painful his grip was becoming. "I look at you, and I only see a pathetic little girl who does not deserve the gift that has been bestowed upon her. You are unworthy!" I flinched as he pushed me forwards, towards the very edge of the balcony. By that point, my blood was boiling with raw anger and his words were enough to provoke me.
I whipped around and glared hard at the man who had been mentally torturing me for all those years. I felt the hatred, the fury that was gradually creeping up my body as I kept recalling all the reasons why I hated him, why I hated the person who had stolen my childhood from me.
I shut my eyes, too overwhelmed with all the emotions. And when I opened them again the man was grinning. His eyes were bright as he laughed maniacally but I realised he was not even looking at me. He was looking at something behind me gleefully, causing me to turn around slowly.
The sight in front of me was frightening yet gratifying all the same. Because I had set the entire forest on fire.
The memory started shifting and fading out of focus. I felt Riddle rummage through my head, trying to find something specific that he was searching for and with all my might, I tried to push him out of my mind. But no matter how many times I attempted rebuilding my walls, he kept tumbling them down. My defences had somehow weakened. But I knew I could not give up. I could not let Riddle see the future Dumbledore or anything that regarded him and the mission.
My body was getting exhausted from all the energy that I was exerting trying to shield my mind, causing me to realise it would be impossible to fight off Riddle.
Fine. If I could not overpower him mentally, I could still cause harm to his physical self.
I set fire to my surroundings.
And just like that, he was banished from my head.
I gasped as I opened my eyes, panting heavily as I sat on the ground. I looked up to see Riddle slumped against a tree, casting Aquamenti repeatedly. My energy blast must have thrown him back against the tree since there was blood trickling down the side of his face.
