I knew the moment I first kissed him, that he would condemn me, that I would drag myself through broken glass for him. I just was not sure if he would stay long enough to pull the jagged pieces out.
I never imagined that instead, he would push the...

"That is quite an exquisite gown."
Walburga entered the room with her dress trailing behind her like a dark shadow. She was adorned in a signature black gown that complimented her figure yet the most eye-catching piece on her were the large diamonds sitting comfortably on her collarbone. They almost blinded me with their intensity.
"Alexander spared no expense, I see." She continued, walking to stand behind me as she fixed the laces of the corset. "And Abraxas has never looked sulkier. Pray tell, what have you done with those two? They are enamoured with you." She tutted, watching my expression curiously through the mirror.
I forced a smile. Ever since I found the diadem broken in my trunk, I knew someone had entered and trifled with my belongings. If it had been one of the boys, I knew they would have taken the diadem to Tom immediately, yet whoever it was was not loyal to Tom. But until I could figure out who did it and why they did it, I kept quiet instead of creating a fiasco.
Abraxas had been trying to make amends with me, and I had given in just a little. I tried to keep our interactions short and to the point, but his unceasing apologies and desperate attempts at speaking with me were slowly convincing me that he was genuinely sorry.
Alexander, on the other hand, was Abraxas' worst nightmare. He did everything to make the Malfoy heir miserable. And most of the time he did that by bringing me into his schemes. The not-so-innocent touches initiated by Alexander or the incessant flirting would not go unnoticed by the blonde wizard. I had asked Avery to put a stop to this childish game of his, but he had just winked at me and sauntered away.
"They are both thorns stuck to my side. I am tired of both of their antics." I answered her.
She smirked to herself as she leaned forwards to whisper in my ear. "But who do you prefer?"
"Wal."
She put her hands up in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. I will interrogate you some other time. You seem to have something on your mind."
I had debated telling Walburga about the diadem several times, however, with her brothers and boyfriend's affiliation to Riddle, I decided not to risk it. Not to mention her feelings for Riddle himself would complicate things further.
"Just nervous about the opening dance is all." I lied easily, smoothing my hand over the expensive fabric of my dress. It was made from the richest shade of green— emerald— and had a layered skirt with a V-line waist that flattered my body shape wondrously. It was so obviously picked by Alexander Avery and much to my dismay I loved it. The gown itself was magnificent by itself, so I did not find the need to accessorize it with blinding diamonds, instead, I decided to leave on the necklace Abraxas had gifted me. It was delicate and suited the look.
