If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Wat's POV

From: TWW [13:42]

Love, I'm taking a half-day off and Fong will drive me back home. Can you get me some congee on your way back this evening? Phom rak khun!

What the hell?

I felt anxiety rose from the pit of my stomach as I read Tine's message repetitively during my lunch break, making sure that I was understanding his text correctly.

Should've chained him on the bed this morning.

"Wat, I'm leaving earlier today, getting a cup of coffee on the way to work."

"Wait, what? Coffee?"

I thought I misheard something.

Tine you don't drink coffee for God's sake, you only drink Blue Hawaii.

"Yeah, coffee, a strong one. I'm feeling a little light-headed." Tine let out a sigh as he put on his shoes.

"Just stay at home, Tine, you need some rest."

"It's not a big deal, I promise. I promise you na. I just need to finish some papers."

A small curve made through the corner of his pale lips, he was trying to convince me that he was fit to go to work.

Sarawat, you know there's no way for him to change his mind. He is your kwai noi.

"Fine, but let me know if anything goes wrong, please." I was sulking internally.

"I will, don't worry. I'll see you later tonight then."

Tine placed a chaste kiss on my left cheek and I pulled him by his hips closer, sealing his lips with a fiery kiss, channelling all my restlessness through that kiss. Tine's fist bunched at the front of my shirt, struggling to keep his cool as I continued to delve deeper into his mouth.

I had a very bad feeling about letting him go this time.

I wasn't even sure if I was feeling relieved or more anxious when I saw Tine's message.

To: TWW [13:45]

Are you okay, tua woon wai? What happened?

From: TWW [13:46]

Just a bad headache, I will just head home and rest well. See you tonight.

"P'Dim, do you think we can end early today?"

"Tam mai? Are you sick?"

"Not me, it's Tine."

"Huey! What a whipped man!" Dim teased me as he jeered at me sideways.

I shoved another spoonful of green curry rice into my mouth, I wasn't in the mood to continue on with whatever joke that he was planning to pull on.

"Arai? Is it really serious?"

Realising that I wasn't playing along with him as usual, his posture changed rapidly. His playful expression turned into a serious one.
