Wat's POV
Tine was squirming in his sleep, his nails digging into the bedsheets and his body twisted violently.
"Tine?"
I thought it was his headache running back to him again.
"Wat, please, don't leave me alone!"
What? I had been here for the entire time.
"Tine! My love!"
Tine snapped his eyes open almost immediately, gasping for air greedily. His hands were cold as he clasped my palms tightly.
"Baby, I'm here."
I stroked his pale cheeks gently, I was afraid to break him. Tine looked extremely fragile as he looked at the ceiling blankly.
I pressed wistful kisses on Tine's sweaty temple, whispering his name repeatedly to comfort him although the fear in me was clawing from within.
"Wat."
Tine's eyes lost their usual liveliness, they were empty and it broke my heart to watch Tine in such a state.
I wish I could protect you from your nightmares, Tine.
"Yes, baby?" I tried to suppress the shakiness in my voice.
Fong reminded me that I shouldn't make things worse for Tine, it was not ideal for his health.
"Hug me, please?"
Gladly.
I snuggled under the duvet and circled Tine's slim waist protectively, I needed something real to anchor me.
"Tine, are you okay?"
I wanted to make sure my Tine wasn't in any discomfort.
You were in so much pain just now.
"Wat, don't leave me alone, please."
"Tine, you were the one who had left me alone just now."
Instinctively, I let out those words without thinking straight. My thoughts were all over the place and I was slowly losing control of them.
"Wat, don't be a baby, I left you alone on our bed so I could make you breakfast."
"You left me alone, Tine."
I knew I was being unreasonable here, but I was just too afraid of the endless possibilities ahead of us.
The firmer I tried to cling to the future, our future, the faster the future dissipated into thin air.
Only uncertainties remained.
"Wat, I'm sorry for leaving you alone, but what happened? Why am I in bed again? Did we had morning sex in the kitchen and I passed out halfway?"
Tine was back to his cheeky self and that managed to soothe my nerves a little.
"You fainted, Tine, and you were in so much pain. You left me all alone dealing with the chaos."
The horrifying memory of watching Tine collapsing in the kitchen was playing in a loop in my head and I have no way of getting rid of them.
I didn't know I was crying until Tine lifted my face gently and his fingers found every drop of tears streaming across my cheeks.
When I looked into Tine's eyes, I found myself and that knowledge alone was enough to comfort me.
"But you're back to me now, Tine."
