{Autumn}

Leaves fell around the land as crisp morning air chill filtered through the open bedroom window with sunlight. My lover, now fiancee, was wrapped around me, absorbing warmth as it grew into the cooler fall months. Autumn was always my least favorite season, but at least with her on my flank, I could appreciate everything now.

I never imagined us being here, in this everlasting era.

She stirred a little bit as I moved to sit up, glancing out the window. The leaves were shades of all of the typical autumn colors; red, orange, brown, etc.

Only in Vermont did it look all the more beautiful.

And my girl was the most beautiful, stunning, and breathtaking of them all. I went to get up to start my day, since I was already awake and didn't see myself falling asleep again until later on. When I was about to rise, she pulled me closer and whispered something. I raised an eyebrow, "I didn't know you were awake....?"

She sprung up, "Where are you going? Why are you leaving?"

I jumped back, startled, "Holy hell, you scared the shit outta me!"

"Leaving so soon?" her pleading eyes inquired.

I shook my head, "I wasn't leaving, I was going to get ready for today!" She snuggled closer to me, "I just don't want you to leave," she murmured.

My heart melted. She was adorable.

I sighed, "I never would. I have no reason to, and hopefully you don't either." She sat up and wrapped her arms around me, "I don't," she promised. I kissed her cheek, "I love you. Now can I go get ready baby? We have a fun day ahead of us..."

She smiled warmly, brushing a strand of hair out of my face, "Yes," she replied softly. I chuckled, "Heh, alright. I'll be back," I said as I got up and headed out of the bedroom to get dressed. I poked my head back into the room, "And don't go anywhere," I told her playfully. She laughed lightly as I changed and readied myself for our village's fall fest. I was caught off guard after I slid my black jeans on with military general combat boots when arms gripped my hips. I spun around, facing right up against her. I gasped, "You keep scaring me today!"

She inched back blushing, looking guiltily at the ground, "Sorry," she replied quietly. My heart lurched; I didn't mean to upset her!

I placed a hand on her chin, helping her raise her head to meet my gaze, "I wanna see your beautiful eyes, love. You know I didn't mean to upset you, right?"

She blushed again, "I know."

"You're blushing a lot too," I remarked with a smirk as she turned redder.

"Sorry.. it's just that... hmm.."

"Huh?"

"You're just perfect and I love you. You've given me everything, but sometimes I think you're just too good."

I embraced her, "You're right." Waves of disappointment seemed to crash over her, "What?"

"You're right. I'm perfect, and I'm perfect for you. I'm too good for the ones I didn't want, as well as those who I knew by heart, weren't for me."

She wanted to speak, but I talked over her.

She needed to know how I felt.

"I love you, and no one else. Don't ever forget that, nor doubt your worth over me. We're gonna make it baby, especially after everything in our history. We will be forever."
