To which I have learned
I wish to fight
Harm to the one
Whose past aligned
Mine
It was a night
I could not see
Through my darkened
Peripheral
I failed to see
Who was there
As it was my first time
Meeting her
Her lighting up before
We went into
The night's chill
She tells me tonight
Of that night so long ago
The high on the edge
Her lighter singed
Her thoughts
As she asked the question
And got the slightest answer
I failed to notice
His acknowledgement
Of our past
It was a mistake
Though now forgotten
And forgiven
We are bittersweet
Yet someone new
Harms him
Hurts me
To see him
Harmed
The way I once
Killed his soul
Shattered his heart
Ran for this
Closest link
And failed
Odds are broken
For my heart aches
As he will never know
How not
To hurt.
