Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so
You said your mother only smiled on her TV show
You're only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope
I hope you make it to the day you're 28 years old
*Me speaking to friends about their family issues, cursing about it*
You're dripping like a saturated sunrise
You're spilling like an overflowing sink
You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece
And now you're tearing through the pages and the ink
*image flows to me helping out unlikely friend with other shit, hanging with him and other friends, "friend" in the background, wearing blue*
Everything is blue
His pills, his hands, his jeans
And now I'm covered in the colors
*when beat/chorus drops, "friend" behind me in all blue, hand on my shoulder as she smiles as I snap a picture of unlikely friend and his club; image comes out with blue filter*
Pulled apart at the seams
And it's blue
And it's blue
*shows unlikely friend and team pic, they hug me and approve*
Everything is grey
His hair, his smoke, his dreams
And now he's so devoid of color
*next part of chorus: "friend" smoking a cigarette with gray smoke and gray makeup, background of me and my friends, her and I making frequent eye contact*
He don't know what it means
And he's blue
And he's blue
*me and unlikely friend laughing along with all our friends at campfire*
You were a vision in the morning
When the light came through
I know I've only felt religion when I've lied with you
*talking to unlikely friend aside from my friends, seemingly close, then turn around to answer message from "friend", who appears off, yet sends anyways and seems to be invested*
You said you'll never be forgiven 'til your boys are too
And I'm still waking every morning but it's not with you
*I smile and reply, unlikely friend talking in background*
You're dripping like a saturated sunrise
You're spilling like an overflowing sink
*fast-forward to me and my family in Vermont, sunset conquering the sky, red and blue colliding to purple*
You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece
And now you're tearing through the pages and the ink
*close up to my eyes as the moon comes into frame, removing sunlight*
Everything is blue
His pills, his hands, his jeans
And now I'm covered in the colors
*when chorus drops, cemetery appears right across from lover's lane on the road, my heart beats outta me chest, daydreaming continues into flashbacks*
Pulled apart at the seams
And it's blue
And it's blue
*"friend" (still wearing blue with gray ash stains on her jeans) and unlikely friend running around in the cemetery with me and my friends*
Everything is grey
His hair, his smoke, his dreams
*she bumps into me, apologizing and gently caressing my side, our hands touch; oddly long for embrace*
And now he's so devoid of color
He don't know what it means
*my gray eyes widen in moonlight once more, indicating a pupil becoming bigger at the sight of something I love, aka her*
And he's blue
And he's blue
*me running as the others fade away, jumping into a car with unknown person, my blue gray eyes shining with confession and love on my mind*
You were red and you liked me 'cause I was blue
*during dialogue part, sunset filters into the white car as I talk, full of expression, the red yellow lights shining brightly into reality*
But you touched me and suddenly I was a lilac sky
*purple and lilac colors shine through, marking the end of dialogue as we fade away*
And you decided purple just wasn't for you
*end of fever dreamy dialogue with the light path*
Everything is blue
His pills, his hands, his jeans
*leading up to next chorus drop, unlikely friend displayed getting ready for a wedding, assumed to be his to me; pride pin displayed with a rose on his suit*
And now I'm covered in the colors
Pulled apart at the seams
*side by side screen appears, me on the other side, my family all there smiling, also wearing pride pins*
And it's blue
And it's blue
*right before chorus drops, two young kids (one boy, one girl) run down the wedding aisle out an outdoor, non religious venue, holding pride flags, allowing them to flow in the light breeze*
Everything is grey
His hair, his smoke, his dreams
*chorus drops, and unlikely friend is displayed walking a bride down the aisle; it isn't me, for I am standing up front with my family; it is revealed to be "friend," aka my lover*
And now he's so devoid of color
He don't know what it means
*she meets me and we lock hands; lock lips after we say vows, black and white film come into frame in the faint background as flashbacks*
And he's blue
And he's blue
*flashback films all black n white except for her blue outfit and her cigarettes; they're the only details in color*
Everything is blue
*after we kiss, the close up of audience reveals all to be nothing but happy*
Everything is blue
*a (monarch) butterfly flies into the sky after the kiss, flying into the distance towards the sky, a gold dust path almost like firework path ash trailing behind*
Everything is blue
*the clouds clear for the butterfly path, then it is revealed the gold trail illustrates the word "End," then the vision is over*
Everything is blue....
