You know those opportunities? The ones so rare and special they only come around once and a blue moon?

The ones you know you can't take for granted because they will probably never happen again.

Those opportunities.

Yeah well they never happen to me.

I am not saying my life is bad, no not by any means.

I have amazing friends, amazing parents, an amazing sister, and an amazing boyfriend.

The thing is my life is going no where.

Nothing interesting happens, nothing excites me.

Not in my small town in Georgia.

I just graduated high school a week ago actually. I plan to go to University of Georgia.

Yep I'll be stuck in Georgia.

Not that it's a horrible thing, I mean I'll be close to my family and stuff.

I just wanted to get out. See I submitted this application at this modeling company in California. No one knows, I submitted it at like two in the morning. I don't have that kind of courage in the day time.

I already sort of model. It's more of local stuff than anything. This however would be big. If I get in.

Saying I submitted it a month ago and still haven't heard anything not even an email. I am pretty sure I didn't get accepted by them.

So I guess I'll be going to University of Georgia to become a nurse.

Yay.

I was excited nursing was always the plan. That was the thing though it was safe. It was what was set for me. I wanted change.

"Ava darlin' can you come down stairs and help memaw out of her wheelchair?" My mom calls from down stairs.

Sitting up in my bed I rearrange my tank top, "Coming." I call out heading down stairs.

My grandma lived with us. Ever since she took a nasty spill and had surgery, my family felt better if she didnt live alone.

She refused to be at one of those assisted living place, hence why she is here now.

I turn the corner to see her trying to pull her self up onto the recliner.

Jogging up to her I wrap my arm around her helping her into the chair.

"Now Ava Lynn I could've done that myself. Don't let your mother fool you." She says.

I quickly wave her off, "It's ok to need help sometimes." I say. I think out of anyone in my family I was closest to her.

She may not have known I submitted the application but she knew that modeling was my dream.

My height for the longest time was a big insecurity of mine. I had always been taller than most girls and even some guys at my school.

I'm 5'9 making me taller than my mom, my grandma, my sister Rachel, and my boyfriend Austin. My dad is taller than me by an inch.

Grandma was actually the one to suggest modeling, no one else really liked the idea. Telling me I had to be practical but she told me I would never know what I love if I don't try million things I hate.

The moment I modeled for the first time I fell in love with it. I was thirteen and it was for a catalog for my towns local clothing store.

I don't know what it was about it but it drew me in.
