River's POV

Walking in I see Nora at the counter.

When she sees us she smiles, "Where's the rest of you guys?" She asks noticing it's just me and Ava.

Ava beams at her, "It's just Riv and I today. He's teaching me how to drive."

That damn nickname. I've been on this earth for nineteen years and she is the first person to ever give me a nickname.

"You're teaching her how to drive?" Nora asks me and I simply nod.

"Can I get two pepperoni slices and-" Ava turns to me, "You want just jalapeños right?" She asks and I nod, then she orders for me.

Something inside me swirls at the knowledge that she knows what I get from here. From basically everywhere actually.

It's strange how much attention she pays to me.

Nora rings us up and I pay.

"I can pay sir I have caching." She says holding up two, one dollar bills.

My lip quivers trying to contain a laugh, "I know you do." I say as I grab our orders.

We sit down by the window and Ava dives straight into her pizza.

She must have really been hungry.

I watch as she looks down at my pizza, then hers, up to me, then back to my pizza.

"What?" I ask and her deep blue eyes snap up to look at me.

She bites her lip pointing at one of the jalapeños, "Can I have one."

I nod and she picks one off before putting it on her slice.

"You know I did so well driving today, next thing you know I'll be racing for the Daytona 500." She says and I laugh.

She's a horrible driver. I would never tell her that to her face though.

I now understand what Desiree was talking about. She was sweating bullets just trying to get into another lane.

The guy behind us basically came to a complete stop to let her in. She still felt like he was going to hit her.

Her phone buzzes and she looks at it, then her whole mood changes.

It's probably that asshole boyfriend of hers.

The moment we all saw him we knew he was shit. Ashlynn was the only one who decided to voice it to Ava though.

She believes he's full on cheating. Desiree just thinks he's overbearing, which clearly he is.

The guy is constantly texting and calling her. Not only that but the whole no guys thing.

Even Spencer and Cole that it was weird. They both have long distance girlfriends and neither worry about them being friends or hanging out with guys.

I see her indecisiveness on whether to turn her phone completely off or not. Most of the times she does, especially on game night.

I have an itch to ask her who's texting her but I don't like the idea of prying into others business.

"You have a sister right?" She asks looking up at me.

I nod. "I have one too. Her names Rachel, anyways my family chat is blowing up because she got this big promotion at work. I mean I am happy for her I just wish my family cared about my achievements like they care about hers. Sorry I know it's stupid." She says looking down at her half eaten pizza.
