Today is grandma Lynn's funeral.
As promised River flew out with me.
We ended up staying at my house as well.
The moment I walked through the front door my mom had embraced me in a bone crushing hug.
Then she sat me down and made me introduce her to River.
My sister and dad joined in as well.
I could tell the whole time how awkward it was for River, being bombarded with all of these questions.
The fact that he stuck through it and answered all of them ugh, I love him.
The next day we get dressed for the funeral.
River wears an all black suit and I wear a long sleeve black dress and black ballet flats.
"Ready?" He asks and I nod.
Ready as I'll ever be.
The services are beautiful, my grandma would've loved it.
It was simple just like how she would've wanted it.
While my sister and my parents decided to go out to eat, I decided River and I would just head back to the house.
I couldn't stomach dealing with pity stares in the diner.
"You want anything to eat?" River asks as we head inside but I shake my head, "I just want to remove this dress." I say walking up the stairs.
He follows behind me and we enter my bedroom.
I reach behind me to unzip my dress but for the life of me I can't get the zipper down.
"Riv can you get this for me?" I ask and I feel him walk up behind me.
He pulls the zipper down and I feel his knuckled brush my spine as they travel south.
I slip out of the dress and turn to him, wrapping my arms around his neck I bring my lips to his.
It's a whisper of a kiss but it holds so much meaning and emotion.
"Are you sure?" He asks and I nod.
Next thing I know both of us are naked and I my head is resting on his chest, his arms wrapped securely around me.
My heart swells with so much emotion and before I can stop it I start to blurt out the one thing I have been keeping in.
"I love-ly bunch of coconuts." I start to sing pretending like I wasn't about to drop the L bomb on him yet.
His brows pinch together as he looks down at me.
"What?" He asks and I shrug, "Its a good song."
"Sureeee." He drags on suspiciously, "But I do love you too you know." He says and I sit up, the sheet falling down to my waist.
"You what?" I ask and he runs his thumb against my arm.
"I love you Ava Davis."
Major swoon.
"Well I love River Lucas. I love you more than everything."
Before I can blink River's hand is on the back of my head and he's tugging me down for a breath stopping kiss.
No literally it's so good I can't breathe.
He pulls me on top of him so I am straddling his waist.
He has one hand still on the back of my head, the other resting on my hip as we continue to kiss.
"I love you." He mumbles and I want to cry.
"I love you." I whisper back against his lips.
I love this man and he loves me. I have amazing friends waiting for me in California. My life is there and despite what my parents thought I dont regret it.
Not even a slight amount.
I think everything is going to be ok.
