Today I am going out.
Desiree has a thing today which leaves me by myself.
I decide to go to the mall and get some new shoes. Then I head down to the grill again.
Just as I enter I see River at one of the tables. He's alone by the looks of it.
I order at the counter before going to sit across from him. Hopefully he wants my company or this is about to get real awkward.
As I sit he looks up at me. "Hi." I say as I take a seat.
"Hey." He greets back and I notice he has tofu wrap.
"Are you vegan?" I ask and he shakes his head, "Vegetarian."
"Oh." I say taking a bite from my steak sandwich.
Whoops. I look down at my sandwich.
River laughs and I look up at him, "I don't care what you eat Ava." He says full of humor.
That was the first time he has ever said my name. It sounded so weird coming from him.
"Oh good cause this sandwich is really good. Why are you vegetarian?" I ask curiously.
I really need to stop being such a busy body.
"My whole family is." Oh.
"You know I once went vegetarian once. Well sort of, see I was eight and only ate chocolate and Swiss cheese for a week. Not together of course but still. My parents got so mad at me that they hid all the chocolate and Swiss cheese and I had no choice but to eat something else." I ramble.
He looks amused but doesn't say anything. At least he's paying attention a lot of people like to tune me out. I get it though who wants to hear someone ramble about chocolate and Swiss cheese?
I take another bite of my sandwich relishing in the salty sweet flavor. River continues to eat too. He doesn't seem bothered by me being here.
Good.
My phone buzzes and I see that it's Austin.
He wasn't too happy that I ignored him the other day. I reminded him that I had told him I was going to be busy but he claimed he forgot.
Then went on to say that I should always answer because it could be an emergency.
With that in my mind I look up at River, "Can I take this real fast?" I ask and he nods.
"Hello?" I say into the phone.
"Where are you I hear people talking." He says and I look around. There aren't that many people here I am surprised he can hear anyone talking.
"I'm at the grill for lunch. The only I sent in the group chat." I tell him.
I had sent a picture of it to everyone telling them how good it was. No one seemed that impressed but it's because they haven't tried it.
"Are you alone?" He asks and my eyes flit up to Rivers who eyes are already trained on me.
I bite my lip, "No I'm with a friend." I say honestly. Well hopefully he considers me a friend, I consider him a friend.
"Who?" Austin practically demands.
I know he has his thing against guys being near me. If I tell him I am alone with one..well not alone but with no other friends but him Austin will freak out.
I really don't want to deal with that right now.
"I'll talk to you later, bye." I say super fast and hang up. Then I turn my phone completely off.
