"Hey, Lil. If you get this message, please call me back. We all have some things to share with you. I know that you said you wanted space and we completely respect that, but you really need to hear this. And don't even try to get me to tell you over the phone, I know how stubborn you can be. But this conversation needs to happen in person. So... Call me back soon. Bye"
"What'd she say?" Steve asks reentering the room.
"She didn't answer so I left a voicemail. Hopefully she gets back to me soon." Nat pats the phone on her palm nervously.
"I know that she's stubborn, but she'll get back to us," he rubs her shoulder reassuringly, "she said it herself. I we need her, just call, and she'll come."
"I really hope you're right, Steve. I have lost too much already." She mumbles.
"You and me both,"
--------------------
Staying at this hotel, is probably one of the best ideas I've ever had. The service is amazing. The room that I'm staying in is a designer suite. This is the best I've ever lived. And I had a nice ass apartment back in New York, before Tony Stark happened.
I think that my absolute favorite part about it though, is that no one asks questions. They just leave you alone, until you demand their services.
I'm currently taking a much-needed shower.
I'll let you in on a little secret...I haven't showered in 3 months. I know, it's disgusting.
But, I think that this will definitely do the trick. My body feels so clean, and... Bonus! I was able to find even more scars from the fight.
I'm just so glad that Steve's childhood best friend practically beat me to death after I helped him escape. God, I hate that I trust Steve so much! I literally agreed to help set our enemy free. He makes me loose my mind!... But I love the guy to death, almost literally.
Notice how I didn't use passed tense. Yes, I still love and trust the guy! It's super surprising and hard to believe, I know!
Just get out of the shower and quit thinking about it! The room service employee is supposed to be bringing some alcohol soon. And he'll leave if we don't answer the door!
Knock knock!
Speaking of....
"Room service!" The man announces, "I have the alcoholic beverages that you requested, Ms!"
I rush to finish putting my shirt on. He can't leave, it's been too long since I last had some good wine.
"Thank you, sir." I flash a fake smile as I grab the bottles of wine.
"Your wel-"
I kick the door closed, but I can't find a bottle opener.
So make my way back to the door.
"You wouldn't happen to have a bottle opener, would you?" I ask scanning his hands.
"Oh, yes of course, ma'am."
He brings his hand forward, revealing it. I snatch it out of his hands quickly, and slam the door in his face.
I really don't need a bottle opener. I could easily open it with my bare hands, but a) I don't want to get my hands dirty, right now and b) it's fun to be mean to the room service.
I unscrew the lid to the bottle and put it up to my mouth. Who needs a cup when you're going to drink the whole thing anyway?
I chug at least a quarter bottle of the fruity substance.
"Mmm, I moan.
The rest of the night it history. I want to tell you, I really do, but I can't seem to remember. I'm a terrible blackout drunk.
-----------------
"Ugh, my head." I groan, awakening.
I find some Advil and a glass of water on the table.
"Wha-"
"I figured that you might want that after how drunk you were last night." A familiar voice states kindly.
I turn my head. With drowsiness still clearly present, it takes a few blinks to to see the figure.
"Steve?" I whisper groggily, "what the hell are you doing in my hotel room?"
"Here take this," he hands me the glass and pill.
He's not-so-subtly avoiding the topic until I'm taken care of.
I assess him, attempting to find something that will reveal why he's here.
I quickly swallow the pill, so I can ask questions.
"Why are you here, Steve?"
"When was the last time you checked your phone?" He replies with a question.
"I don't know... Yesterday?" I admit unsure of my answer.
"We've been trying to get ahold of you since last night." Nat states, emerging from the bathroom.
It looks like she's inspecting the price tags from my shopping spree a few days ago.
"Great, both of you are in my hotel room." I muffle annoyed.
"That's just fantastic for us, she's already mad, and we haven't even told her why we're here." Nat scoffs.
"Why are you two here?" I question eagerly.
"We have an idea," Steve starts.
"Well, I wouldn't really call it an idea." Nat interrupts, "it's more of a proposition of closure. For you."
"But I already got the closure that I needed." I reason.
"First of all, there wasn't any closure at all. And second, you didn't have all the facts." Steve corrects.
"Tony made the bombs that killed my entire family, Steve. That's how the story goes. Those are the facts!" I use gestures for emphasis.
"No, those aren't all the facts! We thought that they were, but they aren't." Nat states.
"We've talked about it with Tony, and-"
"You are really going to believe what he says?!" I cry in disbelief.
"Yes, because what he said was true!" Steve's tone rises.
"How could you possibly know that?!"
"You didn't see him talking about it, Lilliana! He was absolutely heartbroken because," she quotes Tony, "it was like he lost his little girl."
I'm in shock.
Is that how he really feels? Did he really say that or are they making it up? I don't think that they would ever lie to me, but they seem really committed. Should I go see him? Let him explain himself?... I loved him a lot before everything. He was like a second father to me. And I thought that all of that love went away but I think deep down I still love him. I just didn't want to admit it because his creations did horrible things. But can I really continue to hold him responsible? He didn't know what they were being used for. Tony was just continuing his father's legacy. Maybe he felt too guilty to change it, until he realized everyone he was hurting in the process.
"He loves you more than anything else in the entire world, Lil... You just need to hear him out." Steve reasons again.
"... Fine, I'll go talk to him. What's the plan?" I mutter.
"Tony's hosting a party tomorrow evening. It'll be a good time for you two to talk things out... And we all have a big surprise for you. Maybe that will bribe you into behaving well." Nat announces.
"Alright, time to face my demons." I mumble.
Author's Note:
Tony and Lilli are finally going to talk things out. It's about time, I know that you've been waiting awhile for this too. And there's a big surprise that everyone keeps talking about. What do you guys think it is?
