'Tony; Steve'
The two opposed men begin to fight each other away. Barnes's rifle raises toward Tony who destroys it with a blast, leaving Bucky without a weapon.
It's now a metal against metal battle.
I feel utterly defenseless in this situation, not eager to choose a side.
The fight varies in location as they brawl aggressively.
Steve launches the vibranium toward Tony, ricocheting off of his helmet, as he reenters the opposition. He uses the shield as his only line of defense against the suit.
In a gradient manner, Stark is able to restrain Rogers with a high-tech device.
"Tony, stop!" I infuriate finally, "I understand that you're hurting, but this is illogical!"
He refuses to listen, only continues to brawl hostilely.
Both men grunt immensely, trying to gain the upper hand, stopping this nonsense. Barnes continues to fight for his life, not truly wanting to hurt Stark, only wanting to stop fighting for once in his life. He disables a blaster to reduce the levels of possible damage and/or injuries.
Steve, bright in thinking on his feet, is able to free his tied limbs.
Matters of the ancient facility crumble simultaneously from impacting rockets. Instinctively, we all maneuver out of harm's way. However, not necessarily hurt, Tony finds himself rammed underneath a fallen beam.
"Get out of here!" Cap demands his dear old friend, so Barnes eagerly sprints for an exit.
However, Stark is able to confront him once again before anything gets accomplished.
'Red button; hatch'
My gaze scans the beaten room intensely until I land on the sensed button.
"Barnes!" I yell, grabbing his undivided attention, "the button!" I explain, raising a finger in the needed direction.
He slams the button harshly with his gloved fist.
"It wasn't him, Tony." Steve pleads as I quickly make my way to them, "Hydra had control of his mind."
"Move!" Stark demands, weaving his way through the air, passed Cap.
"It wasn't him!" Steve repeats, grabbing a great hold of Iron Man's calf.
After both men continuously try to disarm the other, Stark is able to get away damaged. As he attempts to scale the flights of stairs, my mind races, looking for ways to halt his journey.
'Just jump'
I guess that I really don't have another option...
I find myself jumping with such force that I arrive by Barnes seconds after Steve protects blasts with his shield.
"He's not gonna stop," I mutter.
"Go,"
As he commands, Steve launches himself onto a flying Stark, plummeting in floors.
I allow Bucky to climb the stairs on his own, not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention to his grand escape.
'Stark; the hatch'
"Barnes, look out!" I call to him, but sadly, I was too late.
Tony's miniature rocket blew the hatch to pieces. As Bucky falls, Iron Man following circumspectly several floors above.
With only an iron pipe in hand, The Winter Soldier defenses himself from the infuriated Tony Stark.
I can hear muffled strains of a lost conversation between the two enemies as they fight.
Before I can comprehend much else, the three other heroes are descending in a bundle.
What the hell?! I guess I'm jumping too...
I take a spasmodic breath in and join the idiotic men at the ground level.
"This isn't going to change what happened." Steve states as I quietly approach them from behind.
"I don't care. He killed my mom." He begins to fire, but only a few shots go off before I'm able to grab his arms. They crush a little on impact.
"No, you don't get to play that card, Stark. You killed my parents too," I tilt my head to get a better look, "so I guess we're even."
I shove the selfish man away, readying for his expected attack, except, he chooses to fire at Steve instead of myself. Soon after, I notice that Bucky isn't participating in the brawl. I search the steel platforms to find him disheveled on the floor. He appears to be injured from the grand drop, but before I can get to him, Barnes is launching himself and the vibranium shield at Tony.
The three heroes begin to battle once more. I feel a great need to join them, but its so chaotic. My brain can't keep up with the constant movement of all three, a flaw that I've grown overtime. Instead, I wait eagerly for them to stop, whether they choose to remain a truce or injure themselves to a point of no return.
I'm tired of having to fight in wars that really don't apply to me, I was just remaining loyal to the ones that I love. But this time, I'm drawing the line. The solution is right in front of their noses, if they would just look. If they need my help, I will help tend to their wounds and nurse them back to health.
I will admit that it took an abundance from inside of me to not intervene. Especially with the harsh grunting, blasts, lost arms, blood, yells of agony, clashes of metal, its all... a lot.
But, in the end, the don't resolve their issues. Instead, they choose to fight to the brink of death...
"Come on," I whisper quietly as Steve and I help Barnes to his feet.
Only then, will they remain scathed, broken, hurting, and full of regret. My wish is that they learn the truth...
"That shield doesn't belong to you." Tony mutters, "you don't deserve it. My father made that shield."
Nobody was truly good, and nobody was truly bad. Even the good people make incompetent decisions...
Steve briefly leaves Barnes over my shoulder as he tosses his prized past behind.
It's a downside of life, but if you put your mind to it, you can learn from them. Make yourself better. Learn from our mistakes, please, its not worth it...
