Reminiscing

I stared up at the ceiling as my computer's screen cast shadows all over the room.I adjusted myself on my bed, trying to relax my stressed back muscles.

'I'm sure she will show up.'I assured myself.

It had been three days since we lost Yoshie and Fumiko. The images of Yoshie fresh out of the furnace and Fumiko's beautiful face being destroyed would probably stick with me for the rest of my life. And judging on everyone's solemn attitude(except for Maiko, who had sadly gone back to being herself) I could assume they were just as scarred.

Aya had certainly taken it worse than any of us.After the trial, she sat in the courtroom for hours, curled up in a ball.At one point she was able to break out of this state to try and break down the door to the execution room, but she eventually knew when to give in.After he third hour,Monokuma warned us to get her out of there, before she herself was executed. So Akihiro dragged her, kicking and screaming bloody murder, into the elevator. She hadn't left her room since.

Takumi was worried about her safety,so he suggested we take turns watching her and keeping her company.

Maiko,Satoru,Shoichi,Masaru, and Igao hadn't taken much of an intrest in the watch schedules, and we didn't feel comfortable putting Kimiko and Aya in a room by themselves.

I had invited Aya to come to my room that night when I was taking my shift.Call me insane, but I had a reason, and Aya had to see what I had to show her, and I was convinced that it would help her get back on her feet.

"Hey Aya."I had started, looking at her crumpled form buried beneath her covers. She didn't even twitch.Just the continued rise and fall of her chest.

"...Aya come to my room tonight...it has to do with Fumiko..."

After saying this,Aya slowly shifted, and pushed the comforter away from her face.

I had nearly gasped, but caught myself. She looked so...bad.Her multicolored hair sat straight and strongly, clinging to her moist cheeks. Her cheeks had a slightly hollow look on them from not eating in three days(it was all we could do to force her to drink every few hours)and her eyes had sunk back into her skull. Her beautiful eyes, that reminded me of a glass window in the winter, looked as if they shattered.

It was horrible seeing her like that,I'm sure if Tomoko had seen her,she would have started tearing up herself.

But it was the closest to acknowledgment any of us had gotten in the past few days,so I was relieved.

That was why I was so sure that she would show up that night.I had turned on my laptop to play minesweeper to pass the time.

I sighed and checked the clock on the bottom of the moniter.

'I probably should have gone to sleep by now.'I thought, finally closing my laptop, anticipating getting some shut eye.

Then, there was a soft knock on the door.

I abruptly looked up,and rushed to the door.I opened the door, and standing in the inky blackness of the hallway, was Aya.

She came in,looking awkward on her feet as she swayed on the spot.

"Aya,thank you for coming!"I smiled,rubbing my eyes.

She was silent for a while, then,in a croak,said"...I had to wait for Yoichi to go to sleep...you said you had something?"

I turned to my bed and opened my laptop yet again.I opened the wifi page, where I was yet again asked for the password.

"From what we heard, Junko really IS a member of Ultimate Despair."I started."But Junko's name clearly didn't work.So I tried Fumiko's name, but that didn't work either. So I tried designing and fashion, for lack of better guesses. But then,I decided to look at the list of available connections,and..."
