Me and Minako exited my room after our talk had ended to get some dinner, but ended up walking in on a very serious conversation between Kimiko,Masaru, and Yoichi, who were sitting at one of the smaller tables as opposed to the large one.

"Do you think anyone will actually do it?"Masaru whispered.

"I'm not sure how to answer that."Yoichi shook his head, shoulders slumped."No maybe no one else took it seriously."

"As a Class President I can assure you it's foolish to rely on wishful thinking."Kimiko was, shockingly, resting her head on the table.I was sure that it was the worst her posture had ever been.

"Uh..."I walked towards their table,Minako trailing behind me."Kimiko, are you ok?"

It was Yoichi who answered."Poor girl just came back from checking the school for a weak point. She was pulling at all of those metal plates to check if any of them had any give."

It was no wonder she had looked so defeated, and tired. As the Ultimate Class President she needed to be a beacon of strength for all of us.But there was no way anyone would be able to work together without her help.

...then I had another idea...

I pulled Minako aside."Hey,do you think you could get Kimiko to smile?"

"You insult me!"Minako drew herself up proudly, grinning deceptively."I,the Ultimate Actress, not able to make someone laugh?Unthinkable!"

She ran out the door.

I guess she couldn't.

I figured I could try to cheer her up at the very least.I walked back to their table and put my hand on her slumped shoulder."Kimiko,we can give the windows another try later, okay?"

"I want to believe you Shizuko,Yoichi,Masaru, that there is a way out of this school peacefully.I also want to believe that no one here would kill anyone."she lifted her head to look at me,and her eyes looked mysteriously puffy and red."But we can't ignore the elephant in the room forever."suddenly she stood up,her eyes blazing with the fire of the sun."We need to work together!Without cooperation to keep us together in such a situation we will ALL die!!!"

That was the Kimiko I sorta knew.Masaru backed away from Kimiko,as if afraid he would be scorched by the power she was generating. But Yoichi was smiling broadly, clearly in awe of her Ultimateness.

"MAIKO STOP THIS AT ONCE!!!!"

"CAN'T MAKE ME STOP,SO I WON'T STOP!!!!!"

A most unusual scene played out before us.Maiko whizzed by, riding a unicycle (which wasn't surprising since she grew up with clowns) and carrying Satoru on her shoulders, looking angry, but very frightened.

She rode around the head table several times, all while Satoru shouted his protests from his perch.

I felt laughter bubbling up from my gut.Watching Satoru lose his composure like he was really was enjoyable, especially since he wasn't particularly kind.

Yoichi Masaru and even Kimiko joined in on my laughter. It felt good to laugh,to enjoy something and be blissfully unaware of the horrors of the school.I knew when I stopped laughing all of that would come crashing back down on me.But at that moment,I felt like I could bear the weight of it all.

Minako ran back into the Dining Hall, saw the scene play out before us,and shouted "Mission accomplished!!!"

I took the time to stop laughing and asked"You did this?"

"You said make her laugh,so I thought of the most serious person and the most crazy person, and kinda told that crazy person how much the serious person wanted to go on a unicycle ride! And as you can see..."she looked at Kimiko, who had tears streaming down her eyes."I did my job!"She stood proudly, and we continued to watch the whole thing...
