The Shards of the Mirror

A murder took place.

Two actually.

It would be a while before news reached my parents,so this was going to be the most solemn video-chat I've had with them up to this point.

The entire school was in mourning for Sato and the young Kuzuryu daughter.When I had learned of Kuzuryu's death,I had immediately felt guilty.She was someone who was constantly bullying those beneath her,which was probably to be expected of a yakuza.

She and her brother,who was actually in my grade, both acted superior,but with Fuyuhiko he had people he cared about other than himself and his little sister.I had always seen him hanging out with Peko Pekoyama (the Ultimate Swordswoman) and his fellow classmates.I even saw him hanging out with a reserve course student!

But little Kuzuryu had a small group of friends to help terrorize some of the less confidant students,like Mikan, Chihiro, Yasuhiro, Hifumi, and countless others.I had been picked on a few times by her,but those were her true victims.We kept talking to Chihiro about it,about how she should just stand up to her.But she said,

"I-I really don't mind!Besides, I would rather not get on the bad side of a yakuza..."

"That's what everyone says!"Mondo Oowada had shouted.He was the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader,and one of Chihiro's closest friends,so he probably hated the Kuzuryu's more than anyone."Someone needs to teach that chick she can't do whatever she wants here!"

"I believe violence would only bring problems,that and it's against school policy to fight."Kiyotaka had sensed Mondo's violent side waking up and,like the Ultimate Moral Compass he was,tried to talk Mondo out of a confrontation with Kuzuryu.

I simply sighed and continued to nibble on my pizza.I had learned long ago you can't talk Mondo out of his nature.For one thing,he is incredibly defensive of his friends.He was also very protective of Chihiro,seeing as they are close and she is so small.He won't tolerate any violence towards women.I suppose that was a good thing to have,a respect for women.But it got him in trouble in situations like this.

And while Kiyotaka was his best friend,and his metaphorical brother,he wouldn't change that.

"Besides,"Kiyotaka continued."Chihiro should just tell a teacher and they will deal with that girl!"

"She already tried that."I countered."And Kuzuryu threatened her after that."I pulled a greasy piece of pepperoni from my pizza and began to nibble on it.

"Exactly!"Mondo pointed from across our table.

"But Mondo."I went on."What would you even do?Would you really be able to hit Kuzuryu if it came down to it?"

Mondo blanched and went silent for a few seconds.Then he re inflated with some new ammo.

"I won't hurt Kuzuryu,I'll hurt that little punk Fuyuhiko!"

"M-mondo please stop this!"Chihiro cried,raising her voice,a rare occurrence."It really doesn't bother me!"

"Bullshit!You were crying in the hall yesterday!"

"Bro,please refrain from swearing in school."Kiyotaka scolded lightly."And Chihiro,is this true?"

Chihiro pretended not to notice his question and continued."Mondo,it makes me happy when I see you like this,getting mad for me.B-but I would rather no one get hurt on my account."

Mondo sighed in annoyance and we ate the rest of our lunch.

But I had been angry.I just don't show it infront of others like Mondo.I was angry at Kuzuryu for making someone as sweet as Chihiro cry.
