PJ's house was a lot nicer than Amira had thought. His apartment was one thing but this house belonged in magazines. Firstly, it had around ten bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, two dens, a drawing room, a tea room with a sky roof and a huge kitchen where she and Kai now sat; eating breakfast.
Kai seemed better compared to last night but Amira felt as if he was putting on a brave face. His shoulder was still wounded so he was unable to go out with them to investigate. She would have preferred if he was there but Amira couldn't push him anymore. He was safer being here.
Just then, Nathan and Josie walked into the kitchen. They sat across from her and started eating the eggs, sausages and baked beans that was prepared by the staff.
"How are you feeling, Kai?" Josie asked him.
"Better," he nodded. "Are you still going to that research facility?"
"Yeah, we're leaving after breakfast,"
The table was silent again after that. Nathan kept sneaking glances at Amira and she could feel it every time he did it. She hadn't forgiven him fully for lying to her but she wasn't mad at him anymore. He didn't have to walk on eggshells around her.
"How did you know there was a bomb last night?" She decided to ask him.
He seemed caught off guard that she was speaking to him but he answered anyway. "I turned around to find the address when I saw the webcam blinking. I wasn't a hundred percent sure it was a bomb but given the circumstances... I thought the bomber was watching us to make sure we died."
"So you bluffed?"
"I preferred to be scolded by you lot rather than dying," he shrugged.
"So Xavier hacked into your webcam?" Amira sat forward.
"Yeah I think so. He may know our plan, now that I think about it,"
"That information would have been useful last night!" Josie rolled her eyes. "Now he knows we're coming,"
"Then don't go," Amira suggested. "His guard will be up today. Wait him out for a day or two. Let's see what Marcus finds out from his boss first."
Josie had also thought the same thing but she would never admit that. Even though Amira's name was cleared, she still didn't trust or like her. Apart from finding the bomber, Josie's main priority was making sure Nathan was far away from this woman.
"I guess we could do that," Nathan nodded.
The four of them turned their heads as they heard a car come up the driveway. It was PJ's car. He had gone with Marcus and Archie earlier this morning to question their chief about Xaviers whereabouts. They all got up from the table to meet them at the front door—too eager to wait for them to relay the news in the kitchen.
"Well?" Josie asked once they came out of the car.
"We've got an address," Marcus confirmed. "We can run a surveillance to see if Xavier will show up,"
"Then let's go now," Amira told them. "He could be there right now,"
"Actually... I was thinking me and Archie should do this. It's more discreet that way,"
"It only makes sense for all of us to go. You said it yourself that you needed my help. Also, PJ has more cars we could take, isn't that right?" Amira smiled sweetly at him.
He sighed. "Of course,"
