"So PJ is in there?" Amira pointed to the barber shop at the end of the street."Actually, no. PJ's men are," Joshua corrected her.
"So where's PJ?"
Both him and Nathan looked at each other. They all sat in Joshua's car as they tried to follow a few of PJs men in hopes of finding some answers.
"The thing is... no one really knows who PJ is. We only know about him,"
"Are you serious? So how the hell are we going to find him?"
"Stop right there, love. You're not going anywhere near this man." Nathan sternly told her.
"Yes I am. He's clearly got a problem with me and I need to know why. He could be the missing link between Paul and Tom,"
Nathan sighed as a little piece of him inside was crushed. Obviously he knew Tom wasn't fully out of the picture but he had hoped she would give up on trying to find out about Tom's life here.
"Amira... this man only hurts people. I seriously doubt you're an exception."
Amira rolled her eyes. She was grateful that he was concerned but this was her fight. She was somehow connected to all of this and she would never fully be at ease if she didn't finish this.
"That's a risk I'm willing to take. You don't understand how badly I need to find out how I'm connected to all of this," she leaned back in her seat.
"You don't understand that your curiosity is not worth your life," Nathan tried to tell her... tried to stress how much he needed her alive. "Now listen, we know who owns the shop so all we have to do is ask them—or threaten, whichever tickles your fancy— about PJ and pray that they tell us what we want to know."
"And you think that will work?"
"I have my ways. All we have to do is wait until they leave and we go in... well, Joshua and I. You're staying right here,"
"What!" Amira sat forward in her seat. "You're crazy if you think I'm staying in this car while you run off playing good-cop-bad-cop!"
"I'm not thinking anything! If you end up getting hurt or kidnapped then this whole operation is fucked, do you hear me?"
"It's time, mate," Joshua piped up once the silence in the car intensified. Both Amira and Nathan glared at each other, which made Joshua want to leave the confined space they were in before someone blew up.
"I mean it... stay here," he said to her before leaving the car and locking it with the alarm so that he'd know if she tried to open the door.
Amira sat back and folded her arms. She was so mad that she couldn't even speak. How dare he speak to her like that? Like she was a child?
It was then that she made up her mind to figure this thing out on her own. Nathan was moving too slow for her and she sat there and wondered if it was deliberate...
What did he mean when he said this 'whole operation'?

Brynne checked her hair and makeup for the fifth time since the evening started. It wasn't even her event but she was still nervous whenever she had to attend any functions. It also didn't help that they were at The Plaza Hotel and it was packed with most of the big wigs in New York City. She took a few deeps breaths before exiting the bathroom where Micah was waiting for her.
This was also their first event together as a couple. The thought alone made her even more nervous.
"You look great," he told her while slipping his arm around her waist.
