Quaint was the only word Amira had in mind when she entered the little cottage called Two Mount pleasant. It definitely wasn't what she had expected but it had to do. She just hoped that they'd only be spending a few days and then they could properly enjoy London by booking into an actual hotel. The owner gave them a small tour of the downstairs area and left them to rest for the night.Amira left her bags downstairs and trotted up the stairs to see which bedroom she would be sleeping in—only to see that there was only one bedroom.
"Um, did you know there's only one bedroom?" she asked once she came back down.
"Yeah, when booking I requested a pull out bed that I could sleep on," Kai said while setting up his laptop on the coffee table.
"What? Why didn't you tell me? I would have booked us into a hotel and we'd just travel back and forth to this place." She placed her hand on her hip.
Kai shook his head. "We need to be here. Plus it's only for a night or two. I'll be fine,"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure. Now go rest. We have a big day tomorrow," he dismissed her.
"Okay... but don't hesitate to knock when you need the bathroom."
Amira picked her bags up and climbed the stairs to her room. The room was small and it held only a bed and a mirror in front of it. The bathroom, however, was very nice. It was spacious, clean and modern-looking.
After taking a long, needed shower, Amira snuggled under the covers of the king sized bed and tried to fall asleep but when she closed her eyes, Tom's face kept popping up. Her eyes immediately opened and she quickly glanced around the room to make sure she was alone. She knew for a fact that Tom was dead... after all, she was the one who shot him.
—but deep in her mind, she still felt him. She still remembered the words he said to her... the look on his face right before she pulled the trigger.
Not to mention the fact that Paul was still out there and Lord knows who else. Before Tom died, he had said that if he went missing, that there were people who would come looking... people who would possibly still run his operations when he was gone.
People who would possibly hunt her down for revenge...
She threw the covers off her body and rummaged through her purse until she found the bottle. Her therapist had suggested sleeping pills during her sessions. Amira had mentioned how hard it was to sleep and her therapist told her that it was normal to experience insomnia after a traumatic event. The pills had worked for a few weeks until Micah took them away from her.
He expressed his fear of her getting addicted to them; since she was so fragile already. The weeks after that weren't so bad for Amira... mainly because she used alcohol to replace the pills.
But she stole them from Micah's office before leaving for London—just incase she needed them. Usually the dosage was one pill but with the pressure and anxiety of what's to come tomorrow, Amira took two and swallowed them with some water from the sink in the bathroom.
Laying back down in the darkness, she felt the heaviness spread over her body and mind and soon after, she was finally asleep.

It was hard for Brynne to sneak behind Micah's back; especially with what happened before with Paul but she had to do this. Micah was clearly still struggling with his own issues and she felt as if she was the only one who could help.
She was the only one— apart from his wife, of course, that he really opened up to. No one else understood what he was going through and they needed to help each other in order to move on.
