Days later, Amira just went along with whatever plan Nathan had suggested they do. He was no wiser that she went out that night and she would keep it that way. PJ was the only one who could help get right now— despite whatever motive he may have behind it. Once she found Kai; everything would be okay.
It was still so surreal that all of this was happening to her in such a short span of time. It felt like months had passed since she came to London when really it must have been about ten days.
"I've got great news," Nathan said to her once he was off the phone. "My link down at the DVLA managed to track down one of the license plates and just gave me an address. I'll call Joshua and check it out. You alright staying here?"
Amira looked up at him and tried her best not to react. "No problem,"
"I'll be back before you know it," he quickly kissed her and left through the door.
Shaking her head, Amira knew for sure now that Kai was not a priority on Nathan's list— but he was number one on hers. If it came down to it, she was prepared to move forward without the hacker... despite her feelings towards him.
She cared for him; there was no doubt about it but with everything she went through with Tom... she was prepared for anything.
Just as she was about to make some coffee for herself, a knock on the door startled her. Nathan had a key so it couldn't be him. Would it be one of PJ's men? Would they really risk it and come to where she was staying?
Reluctantly, she cracked opened the door but left the chain intact. When she looked, it was a man dressed in a black suit.
"Can I help you?"
"Miss Crawford, Mr. Baxter would like to see you... downstairs."
Mr. Baxter? She was confused for a second before she realized it was PJ Baxter.
She removed the chain and opened the door fully now. "I can't leave the flat open. I don't have a key and if you haven't noticed... it's not the nicest neighborhood. I'll only leave if you stay and watch the place,"
The man furrowed his eyebrows first and then slowly nodded. "If you insist,"
Once downstairs, she saw the black car waiting for her. She didn't have to question if it was the right car; the moment she saw it she knew it had to be PJ. The last time they spoke, he had promised to find Kai in return for her side of the story when it came to Tom's death.
Well, a deal was a deal.
"Did you find him?" Were the first words that came out of her mouth once she sat in the back seat with him.
"What, no good morning?" He teased her. "Is this really the place this youngin' has you staying at? It's awful,"
"It's not awful—number one... and number two, how did you know where I was? Or who I was with?"
"Is that a serious question? Especially with your friend following my men around like some sort of stalker?"
Amira felt the need to laugh. Nathan thought he was on to something when really, PJ was already a step ahead of him.
"So what do I owe this visit?"
"I've done a bit of research and called up some colleagues. We think your friend has been captured by British Intelligence."
Amira was confused. "Why would they kidnap him? We've done nothing wrong."
"We don't know what they want just yet but I'm pretty sure it has to do with you snooping around the place,"
