"What?" Griffin asked "I said get up" Sydney repeated, she stood there waiting but Griffin just took it as a joke, so Sydney did the first thing that came to her mind. She made an excuse for him to get up and hoped it would work "Fine, you don't want to get up then I'll leave" Sydney said turning around to walk back inside "I know you won't, you know you can't go outside" Griffin said and Sydney stopped in her tracks "Maybe not, but aren't I already outside?" Sydney asked sarcastically "What is that supposed to mean" Griffin asked sitting up "Nothing" Sydney said smirking to herself as she walked over to the gate and opened it "I'll be back in a bit" Sydney finished walking out and closing the gate behind her. At this point Griffin was standing and waited a second thinking she would come back but when she didn't he ran to the gate and saw her across the street walking up the sidewalk, he opened the gate and ran after her. He got across the street walking across the street and grabbed her arm stopping her "Where are you going" Griffin said panting while stepping in front of her. Sydney took a second before looking up at him, she seemed like she was gonna yell or cry but Griffin just wanted answers "None of your business" Sydney said "Yes it is my business, I am supposed to protect you" Griffin argued "WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP SAYING THAT?!" Sydney shouted "FOR THE LAST TIME I DON'T NEED PROTECTING!" Sydney continued "Stop yelling" Griffin said calmly "They're all like that, my "Protection" over my life, and now your turning into them too. You only care for the job, you don't care!" Sydney said starting to care "What? Of course I care about you, I love you okay. I just need to do my job and that's how it is" Griffin said in a worried tone "Then why protect me, if you love me.. you'll let me live my life" Sydney argued "Sydney stop it" Griffin demanded "You're just gonna leave me anyway, once my dad find out he's not gonna let you keep this job" Sydney said looking down "SYDNEY STOP IT!" He shouted making her flinch "WHY! Why can't I say it, it's true isn't it. You are just gonna leave me" Sydney said back crying more "I would never" Griffin reassured putting his hands on her cheeks "I would never leave you" He said softly almost whispering. Sydney looked up at hi and he felt guilty for what her father did to her, she had flushed cheeks and her eyes were red from crying, "Then why does everyone leave me?" Sydney asked. Griffin hugged her tight and Sydney cried into his chest, he caressed her back and said something while trying to calm her down, "I-I don't know Sydney, but I know one thing.." He paused pulling away, "I will never leave you, even if I lose my job. Never okay, never" Griffin reassured and Sydney nodded
Sydney POV:
I know that me and my dad never got along but him choosing work over spending my birthday with me is too far, every year he took at least five minutes to say happy birthday before leaving. But he never did this, this hurt the worst. It almost felt like.. I felt like someone had locked up my heart and no one had the key..
