Mummy

Maithili's POV

I was panicked like hell when Prerna's personal nurse called me, I saw my babies before leaving the room, they were hugging each other in their sleep. Rudra will be upset when he will not find me near him morning. But he will understand, they both are really matured compared to their age kids. But Rudra is typical  mumma's boy not like Rudhi who is more matured than Rudra. I pinged Priya that I have to go to hospital as its urgent , while walking to the elevator. When I reached ground floor, I remembered that I didn't bring my car key and I didn't even change my dress.🤦‍♀️

I was in my long skirt and tank top, I called for a cab and reached hospital within 20 min . I checked the time and it was 2:50 at that time. I rushed to the Prerna's ward directly, I was running like a mad woman and gained some attention as well. When I reached there, I saw Arjun sitting on the bench with blank expression . I didn't talk to him but directly entered in to see Aarav checking on some reports, and her nurse was adjusting the drips and there laid Prerna who was pale with closed eyes. 

Maithili: "What happened here? Why did she get unstable suddenly?"

Aarav: "Her BP got shot up."

Maithili: "How is that possible? She was perfect when I left from here. Let me check on her."

I checked on her and now she was normal so I said nurse and Aarav that I will go to my cabin and change my dress. As I stepped out Arjun stood from his seat and asked what happened to her and was panic . I assured him that the condition is under control now. I left to my cabin and changed in to my spare formal dress which I keep in my cabin for any urgency. 

I again came to check on Prerna and was about to open the door when someone turned me by yanking me through my shoulder. I was shocked with this sudden action and before composing myself I was introduced with a sting on my left cheek. I snapped to see who dared to slap me when I saw a person whom I once trusted more than anyone 'Pakhi'. 

Pakhi: "What are you doing here? Why are you going in?" I just stood there with my hand on cheek which was burning and surely with swell, at the same time Aarav came out from Prerna's room

Aarav: "Dii , what are you doing? why did you slap her?"

Pakhi: "What is she doing here? Why she is in this doctor coat? Are you planning on something?" This time I lost it and I was about to speak when one sound boomed from corridor. 

Arjun: "Pakhi, why did you slap her? And she is Prerna's doctor you can't do that to anyone. "

Pakhi: "But bhai , she is a bitch she will try to kiss our Prerna, she is not good for her, how can you trust her?"

Arjun: "Why would she do that Pakhi , don't spew nonsense and if you want to speak such things you can leave now."

Pakhi: "Ok , if you trust her then why Prerna got unstable today?" at that time Arjun turned to me as if he was questioning me. At the same time nurse came out and said that Prerna is gaining her conscious, I just ignored them and strided towards room followed by Aarav. 

I checked her pulses and breathing rythm, it was all normal. She was staring at me with teary eyes, so I asked her "what happened baby? Are you hurt somewhere, are you feeling sick ?"

She shook her head saying no, " then what's bothering you baby?"  I asked her stocking her hair from her face. She started to sob in low voice, it hurted me .

Then Arjun and pakhi entered the room , she glanced at them and then again to me and said that she don't want to have drips, its paining her, so I removed it then she gestured me to hug. I turned back to see Arjun, its his moment, he was so panicked, and he should hug her to sooth her and his own tension. Pakhi was somewhat shocked to see Prerna as she was asking for my hug.

Prerna: "Mummy…" that moment I felt my breath stopped in and I couldn't exhale it out.

Maithili: "do you miss your mom baby ? "

Prerna: "you are my mom na? Why did you leave me? Was I a bad baby? I will be a very good baby please don't leave me. "

Maithili; " no baby you are a very good baby, I am not your mom baby , your dad is here . he was very tensed you know . he loves you so much . "

Prerna: "noo. You are my mom, I saw you photo in dadda's dairy. Your marriage photo. And today dad came and said that he did wrong to you and he is sorry . please don't leave me "

I turned to Arjun, and then saw prerna who was sobbing uncontrollably, I hugged her and cooed her and then rocked her for some time till she feel asleep. Then I stepped out and asked for Arjun to follow me.

I reached my cabin and sat on my chair and was in some thought,  when Arjun entered my cabin I was really angry , I wanted to slap him tight across his cheeks.

Arjun: "you should use some ice on your cheeks,its swollen"

Maithili: " mr. Arjun, do you wanna kill your daughter? " that question made him flinch on his chair.

Arjun: " what are you talking about maithili? " he raised his voice, and in next second pakhi entered my cabin. I sighed out loud and continued.

Maithili: "then why would you talk to her about her mother or me, you too know she is very sensitive right now and cannot afford any shock or tension or sad news, then why did you say anything to her. "

Arjun: " sorry, I didn't know what I was thinking, is she ok now ? Will she understand if I explain her."

Maithili : "don't. Now don't explain anything till the surgery , let her think me as her mom till surgery, she misses her mom really very much and she wants that warmth, I will manage for her, then after her surgery and her stabilising, explain her this things" . I can see some hopes in Arjun's eyes but Pakhi was just giving me that death glares.
