It was hard for me to understand what had just happened here. Roman has really crashed his own wedding. And apparently for me. The whole thing was so unexpected that I didn't know what to do with all my different feelings.

All I could do was look at him and put my arms around his neck. I should certainly not be happy about what he had done, but I was.

Our moment of closeness was cut short, however, when his family spoke up.

"Can you explain to us what the heck happened here, Roman?" asked his sister Summer. She didn't sound angry or upset, more confused. And as I looked around at the rest of his huge family, I realized that they were all confused. Well, everyone except Patricia. She just smiled happily at us.

"We can talk about it later in private. I want to be alone with Y/N for a moment. Why don't you guys head over to the reception venue now. That's not what was planned, but we'll just make it a family celebration. We'll see you later." said Roman to his family and friends. The bride's guests had already left.

When they left, Roman pulled me next to him on one of the benches. The whole time he held my hands tightly. Perhaps out of fear that I would run away. But this could not be further from the truth.

"Why? Why did you do that, Ro?" I asked softly.

"Because when I was standing there, I realized that I didn't want to do this with her by my side. When I discovered you next to my family, I was so happy. For me, that was the image of my family I always wanted to see. With you. I know I'm an idiot. I'm an idiot because it took me so long to realize it," he explained.

"Realize what?" I wanted to know.

"I told you then that I wanted more than what we had. I was too stubborn to see that I already had everything I needed. Just you. You are my something more!" he continued, then gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"You're right. It took you a hell of a long time!" I agreed with him.

"But is it too late?" Roman asked me quietly. I sighed.

"Well, no I don't think so. But this is your last chance. I don't think I can bear to lose you again," I replied in a whisper.

"You won't, Muffin! You have me if you still want me." he spoke.

"Good, and you probably have to thank your mother for that," I said, smiling.

"What do you mean?" he wanted to know.

"I had initially sat down in one of the back rows, but your mother took me by the hand and pulled me to the front with her. I don't think you would have discovered me otherwise," I explained.

"Oh believe me, I will thank her for that every day. For that and so much more." Roman replied and then leaned in and gave me a gentle kiss.

"Roman, a word please!" we suddenly heard someone say and flinched in surprise. We were too much in our own world to notice that we were no longer alone. It was the priest and he looked at us both seriously.

"Of course, Father Brown." replied Roman and rose to his feet.

"I'll leave you to it," I said as I also stood up.

"You're not going anywhere. Never again. You belong by my side. Father, I apologize for the mess I made, but I just couldn't do it with the wrong woman by my side when the right one was just a few steps away from me. It is not what you had planned for today, yet I would like to ask you to do something for me..." he explained to the priest.

The conversation continued for a few minutes and I listened intently. Roman's words were very surprising for me, but nevertheless I would definitely not forget this day, this moment.

As we set off half an hour later to meet up with the rest of his family, a feeling flowed through me that I hadn't had in a long time. The feeling that everything was in its destined place. And no matter what the reason was, we had found together again despite the time that had passed.
