Just as I was making sure that I had closed all the boxes properly, the doorbell rang. I looked at my phone. Hmm... if that was the moving company, they were half an hour early.
But when I opened the door there was someone in front of me that I didn't expect.
"Ro! Oh my god! What are you doing here?" I exclaimed, throwing myself happily into his arms.
"Did you really think I was going to let you do this on your own? I'll take you to your new home myself, Muffin." he replied as he wrapped his strong arms tightly around my waist and pulled me against him. Then he leaned down to me and pressed his lips to mine.
"This is so great! I missed you so much!" I murmured against his neck as he held me close for a few more minutes.
"Everything ready? Where's all your furniture?" he wanted to know as we broke away from our embrace.
"Well, I was thinking that I don't really need any. Your house is already furnished, after all. So I sold or gave away most of it. And if there's anything else we need, we can pick it out together. I only kept a few things that I don't want to part with. Like the sofa in the living room and the dresser and wing chair in the bedroom. I hope it's okay," I replied.
"Of course that's okay. You could have kept everything if you wanted to." Roman said and gently stroked my back.
"I know, but except for those three things, I could do without everything just fine. It's just furniture, after all." I explained to him.
"And I already know exactly where your things will go." he then said.
"I hope you don't mean the garage," I joked. I was aware that he would never do that. Still, it was a good opportunity to tease him a little.
"Y/N, do you really think I would do that to you? No, of course not. The wing chair and the dresser will go in the bedroom and the sofa... I already know the perfect place for that too." replied Roman.
"And where would that be?" I asked.
"You'll see. It's a surprise." he said.
"Uh a surprise? What is it?" I wanted to know.
"That's why it's called a surprise, baby." he replied with a laugh, kissing my nose as I scrunched my face.
"Was worth the try. Alright. Can you carry the cooler bag with the snacks and drinks to the car for me first?" I spoke.
"What do you need snacks for?" he asked, confusing me.
"Because I need to take my car and it's not going to Tampa by itself?" I replied.
"Yes that's right, but you don't drive it by yourself. The moving company does that too. You and I are flying to Tampa." he explained to me.
"Oh... um... wow. I wasn't expecting that, but I'm certainly not going to complain about not having to sit in the car for 7-8 hours. But it really wasn't necessary." I responded.
"Maybe not. But the sooner we get home, the sooner you'll see your surprise. And then there'll be time for all sorts of things!" retorted Ro, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Sassy! I see you've planned ahead!" I said with a laugh, reaching out to him.
Not five minutes later, the movers appeared and started loading all my stuff into the truck, under the watchful eye of Roman. It didn't take long for everything to be loaded.
"We'll meet you in Tampa tonight then, Sir and Ma'am." said one of the movers.
"All right. Drive safe." replied Roman, shaking the man's hand.
"Of course, boss!" spoke the man before he left my now empty apartment.
I took a quick look around my now completely empty apartment and sighed.
"Are you okay?" wanted Roman to know as he put his arms around my middle from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm totally excited. It's just that... I don't know. I thought I'd be a little sad to move out of here, but I'm not, not one bit," I explained.
"I'm glad to hear that. Are we ready to go? We still have to drop off the rental car before we take off." he replied, giving my hips a brief squeeze.
"Let's go. I can't wait to start this new chapter of my life with you." I spoke as I turned around in his arms and snuggled up to him before we headed off to the airport and our new life together.
