26 Nightly surprise

I didn't have the slightest idea why it was called morning sickness when it lasted all day. The whole day I was sick and nothing seemed to really help against it. Still, I didn't give up hope that it would subside soon and I could enjoy the pregnancy more.

Another part that hardly anyone talked about was the effect on the body. Sure, everyone talked about how I was more emotional than usual or about the mood swings. But what they didn't warn you about was the horniness that the hormones caused. If I was not just sick to my stomach, I threw myself at my husband.

It was good that I was still able to accompany him at the moment. If I were at home alone during this particular craving, I would probably go up the walls. But of course that was not the only reason why I accompanied Roman on the road. It gave us both a little relaxation, because the thing with Ava was still playing in the back of our minds.

Currently, we were in a hotel room in.... who knows where. I had totally forgotten about it once again. It wasn't that important anyway. The only thing that was important at the moment was to quickly fall asleep again after I had to pee in the middle of the night.

Carefully, I lay back in bed and gently snuggled up to Roman all over again. Very slowly so as not to wake him. It was enough that one of us was awake. I tried to find a comfortable position, but the bump was starting to get in the way and I still had to get used to it.

When I turned back onto my back I suddenly felt something. At first I thought I had imagined it, but a moment later I felt it again. I think it was the baby. Gently I put a hand on my belly and there it was again. A very clear nudge.

Immediately I reached out my hand to Roman and shook his shoulder.

"Ro! Baby, wake up!" I said softly.

"What's the matter? Are you having cravings of one form or another again?" he groaned softly, but kept his eyes closed.

"No. Give me your hand! Quickly!" I replied.

Without waiting for his answer, I grabbed his hand and pressed it against the bump. Immediately he opened his eyes and looked at me in surprise.

"Tell me you feel that!" I said.

"Is that it? I thought it would be a while before we could feel the first movements? This is awesome. Hey little bean, Mommy and Daddy feel you!" he said softly.

"You're right, it is actually, but you feel it yourself. Our baby is strong and doesn't follow guidelines. 16 weeks and already an overachiever." I laughed and put my hand on Roman's. Together we waited mesmerized for the next movement, but nothing happened.

"I think the baby's asleep again," I said, a little disappointed.

"Probably. I'm so glad I was there and didn't miss the first time," Ro replied, pulling me close to give me a kiss.

"Maybe that's why. Maybe the bean sensed how important this is to you. Next week when I'm home alone meeting with your sisters you would have missed it. So it gave us this special moment." I whispered as I ran my fingers through Roman's hair.

"Well, if that's the case, I'm very grateful. It's bad enough that I'm going to miss the next checkup." he replied, agitated.

"I know, but I'm going to send you lots and lots of pictures, and if the doctor can tell the sex, I'm not going to let him tell me. I want you to be there for that no matter what," I said.

"I want that too. I'm surprised my sisters haven't bugged us about such a gender reveal party or something yet." he said with a smile.

"Me too. Would you want to do something like that? I'm sure the girls would have a blast with it," I replied.

"It's actually not a bad idea. And this way they get a little make up for the postponed wedding." Roman spoke softly, his hand still stroking my bump.

"They'll be thrilled! All three of them and your mom and your aunts. And we could fly my parents in for it. My mom is sad that she misses so much because they live so far away." I said.

"That's all the more reason to do it." he replied, giving me another kiss before we snuggled back into the pillows and sank back into sleep entwined with each other.
