"My God. You've done quite a bit of remodeling and changing to your house. It looks so different from the photos you showed me before you moved in. Hard to believe it's the same house," I said as Roman parked his car in the driveway in front of the house.

"Yeah, I know. The base was really nice, but some things were a little outdated and not up to the standards. Like the windows and stuff. I also had some walls removed inside to make it a little more open. And a certain real estate agent at the time advised me to replace the insulation so the house wouldn't heat up too much in the summer heat," he explained to me as we got out and headed for the door.

"I'm impressed that you even listened to me when I talked about it," I joked as I took his hand.

"Muffin, I always listen to you." replied Roman, lifting our joined hands to kiss mine.

"Oh wait, I have something for you." he suddenly said and then started digging in the pocket of his pants.

"Need a hand?" I asked, grinning.

"Who's the sassy one now, huh? Nah, I already got it. But I'll be happy to take you up on your offer later. Here!" he said, then held something up in front of my face.

"The key to your new home, my love." he continued gently.

Smiling, I took the key in my hand and then stretched to give him a kiss.

"Thank you, Ro!" I whispered against his lips.

"You're more than welcome, baby. Welcome home." he replied softly.

"Will you do the honors?" he asked, pointing to the door.

I nodded briefly and then unlocked the door and opened it slowly. But before I could take the first step inside, he whisked me into his arms completely unexpectedly.

"Woo... Roman, what are you doing?" I gasped, a little surprised.

"What? I want to carry you over the threshold, Y/N. Is that so bad?" he wanted to know as he looked down at me innocently.

"No, you just surprised me. That's all." I replied softly, putting my hand on his cheek.

"Speaking of surprise... I'll show you the house and then you can finally see your surprise." he said.

Carefully, he put me back on my feet as it suddenly began to beep loudly from somewhere. I quickly covered my ears.

"Oh my god. What is that?" I asked over the noise.

"It's just the alarm system. I totally forgot about that. Hang on a second!" he replied loudly.

Roman turned to a device on the wall next to the door and typed in a code, and the deafening noise died down.

"I'll give you the code for the alarm system later. But now come on, I want to show you around." he said as he turned back to me and took my hand.

He showed me around his big, beautiful house and showed me everything. Even though I had seen many houses in my job, I immediately felt at home here. I couldn't put my finger on it, but this place just radiated a certain warmth and comfort. Probably it was the presence of this incredibly handsome man, who still held my hand tightly.

As we entered the bedroom, my eyes fell on something that left me speechless.

"I... but... Ro... how..." I stammered as I looked at the painting above the bed. It was one of my paintings.

"I bought it about two years ago at the gallery you work with. I just had to have it." he replied, wrapping his arms around me from the side.

"That's, wow, that's so sweet! And you've had it hanging here all this time and never told me?" I whispered as tears slowly welled up in my eyes.

"Yep, all the time. That way I always had a part of you with me. And I bought another one for Mom's birthday. She loved the style so much I thought it would be a fantastic gift. I didn't tell her who the artist was though. I had in mind that I could definitely surprise her with it someday. But enough of that. Come on, Muffin," he explained, kissing the top of my head and then leading me on through the house.

"Alright, now you've seen it all. Even my gym. But there's one room that's still left to go, and that's the room I think your sofa would look great in." he continued, pausing in front of another door.

Roman looked down at me briefly, smiled, and then opened the door. Again, I was at a loss for words. This beautiful large room had the same white brick walls that were seen over and over again throughout the house. And it was equipped with several painting easels, shelves full of paints and brushes and many other utensils. Against one wall leaned countless canvases of all different sizes.

"Ro! What have you done?" I asked as tears ran down my cheeks. I was overwhelmed.

"I figured you needed a place to fully express your creativity. And I hope you like it." he explained as he gently wiped the traces of tears from my cheeks and then hugged me.

"Like it? I absolutely love it! I can't believe you did this for me!" I replied, sobbing.

"Baby, I love you. And this, this is just a little something to show you how much I love and need you. Besides, I want you to feel as comfortable as possible here," Roman explained as he stroked my back soothingly.

"I don't even know where to begin thanking you and telling you how much I love you. You know me so well. And I love you even more for that," I said.

He smiled lovingly at me, then took my face in his strong, warm hands and brought his face very close to mine to give me a much needed kiss.

What started as a loving, tender kiss quickly turned into a needy, steamy kiss. It wasn't long before Roman lifted me up to carry me into our now shared bedroom.
