"Do we have everything?" asked Roman as he packed our luggage into the car and then turned to me.

I carried Saphira in her baby carrier to the car. Once there, Roman took her from me and buckled her in. Then he turned back to me and gave me a hug.

"Yeah, I guess so. I hope the ride doesn't take too long. I realize she'll be asleep most of the time, but it still makes me a little nervous to be on the road for so long." I confessed.

"We can take breaks whenever we need to. We have everything we need with us and we have all day. Please don't stress yourself out, Muffin." Roman tried to soothe me, rubbing my back tenderly.

"Okay, you're right. Let's take our baby girl home," I said, smiling.

Roman gave me a loving kiss before I joined Saphira in the back seat and he got behind the wheel.

Our princess was now one week old and it was time to return to everyday life. Whatever that might look like from now on.

After the tree was removed, an ambulance with a paramedic and doctor came to examine me and the baby. The doctor said that everything was fine with both of us and that there was no reason to worry. We didn't even have to go to the hospital. He just told us that the next day we had to take the little one to a pediatrician for a normal checkup.

While Saphira and I took a nap, Roman drove to the next town and bought a baby carrier, since the one we had bought previously was in Tampa. He also bought a supply of diapers and baby formula so that the baby would be taken care of for the week we stayed at the cabin.

I had to say it was a wonderful experience spending the first week of our baby's life alone with her. Just the three of us. It created a great bond between us and I knew Ro enjoyed it as much as I did.

And we didn't even care that the family was a bit pouty that it took us so long to get home. For us, the only thing that mattered at the moment was what was best for us. Roman had been right, I was not sure if a 4 hour drive would have been a good idea right away.

We also talked a lot on the phone with the family and sent them lots of photos. I was sure that as soon as they held the baby in their arms for the first time, they would forgive us for the wait. It was just not possible to be mad when this cute little being was around. With her big eyes and head full of dark hair and the adorable little noises she made. Everyone would instantly melt and fall in love with Saphira. Just like we did.

Fortunately, the trip went without any problems. We only had to take one break to feed and change her. On that occasion, of course, we also ate and drank something. I never thought it would go so smoothly, but I was more than grateful for it.

When my husband parked the car in our driveway, we both breathed a sigh of relief. Saphira, on the other hand, didn't care at all. She was still fast asleep.

Roman and I got out of the car, but before I could undo the strap from the baby carrier, Ro had already done it. Very gently, he lifted the little one out of the car and then took my hand. Arriving at the door, I unlocked it and entered our home.

"Better turn off the alarm quick, baby. Before it wakes the baby." I said to Roman and he nodded.

As we made our way through the house, I saw something that immediately warmed my heart. There were vases of flowers all over the living room and a banner hanging above the couch that said 'Welcome home, Saphira'.

"Oh that's so sweet. Did you do that?", I asked Roman.

"Nope, not this time. Look there's a note on the table." he replied.

I took the note from the coffee table and read what was written there.

Welcome home my darlings! We were shopping for you and everything else is done. You don't have to worry about anything. Let us know when you have arrived. Because we all can't wait to meet our angel.

x Mom

"Your mom is really something special," I said softly, I was so touched.

"You're right, and I think I take after her on that one." he replied with a smile.

"You sure do. All right then, give the gang a call. Then we can officially introduce them to Princess Reigns before they storm the house." I laughed and then reached out to kiss him.
