THE BOULDER IS CONFLICTED

Y/n's P.O.V~

"I'll explain chakra in a way that even someone like Y/n and Naruto, can understand."

"Why do you hate me? I'm not dumb??"

Sasuke smirked, "sure you're not."  

I looked at Sasuke in disbelief. 

"Okay that's it, square up Uchiha, y'all bout to go extinct when I'm done with you-"

"ENOUGH. Please, I'm too tired for this. Just let Sakura explain chakra to Naruto," Kakashi interjected, looking at Sasuke and I with exhausted eyes. I huffed and backed off, still eyeing the duckass. As if I was gonna let him go that easy. 

"Chakra is..."

God this was so boring. I sat down. 'How the hell am I supposed to do this? It's not like I have chakra to use...' 

"Says who?" 

"What-" I looked up, confused and slightly panicked. If I said that aloud and Sasuke heard, he'd probably commence a full investigation-- not like he trusts me as it is. 

"Hey Yang, what's up? It's been a while." 

Yang grinned slyly and manifested a chair, sitting on it backwards. "So, you're having trouble figuring out how to convince the others you have chakra?" 

I blinked. "I understood that reference."

Slouching on it, Yang leaned forward. "No but actually, it's really simple. Yin connects to nature and stuff right? And you're climbing trees... do you see where I'm getting at?"

"Are you telling me to become a tree whisperer?"

"Well... yeah, pretty much. Look, remember the words of Bill Nye the Science Guy, cells are the building blocks of life. And building blocks are lego. So go lego that sh*t."

"I hope you know that made absolutely no sense whatsoever." 

Yang rolled their eyes. "Stop being so dramatic. Just pretend you're a lego block."

"That doesn't help, you useless-"

"You better shut up if you know what's good for you."

I closed my mouth. 

"Okay. Fine. I'll explain in 'logical terms' for you. If you can use life and the earth for seismic sense, you can manipulate the trees to let you walk on them."

"Wait are you telling me I can earthbend? Oh my god am I the Avatar?! Hm, the boulder is conflicted on how that makes sense."

Yang pinched the bridge of their nose. "Hey author-" (no.) "god, fine."

"Okay yes, like earthbending, now get back to reality before they think you're dead."

Naruto's POV

"OH MY GOD KAKASHI SENSEI ARE THEY DEAD?!?!? THEY'RE NOT MOVING EVEN AFTER I POKED THEM FIVE TIMES. NO NO PLEASE YOU CAN'T DIE ON ME Y/N I NEED YOUUUUUUUUUUUU, WHO'S GONNA MAKE ME RAMEN?! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE WHEN I BECOME HOKAGE, I NEED Y-" 

"Naruto shut up, they're still breathing, idiot." 

I glared at Sasuke. Teme. 

"To be fair, they were very still." 

I looked at Sakura with bright eyes, at least she understood me. She's so nice, except for when she hits me.  

"Um, what are y'all doing?" 

I looked down. Y/n-chan! They are alive! I launched myself on them, hugging them tight. 

"You scared me Y/n-chan!" 

They gave me a sheepish smile, "sorry, guess I had a little nap." 

I opened my mouth to reply when Kakashi sensei butted in. 

"No time for sleeping. All of you, go climb the trees with chakra. Y/n, can you?" 

They looked at Kakashi. They looked embarrassed for some reason. I don't know why they feel like that, but I'm definitely doing something about it. I looked at Kakashi sensei, frowning. 

"Hey! Of course they can do it! Don't underestimate my best friend. They're gonna be this Hokage's right hand person someday dattebayo!!" 

Kakashi shrugged, hobbiling away on his crutches. I grinned in victory, looking back at Y/n. 

"Thanks Naru," they smiled at me, pulling me into a gentle hug.

My ears turned red and my heart started beating faster for some reason. That's weird, that's never happened before.

Kakashi's POV

Y/n eventually let Naruto go, who stood there dumbstruck for a few seconds before speeding off to a tree, a wobbly grin on his face. Well that was intriguing.  I surveryed the team, my eye eventually landing Sasuke, who was eyeing the pair, a glint of anger in his onyx eyes that remained even after he raced up the tree. He only made it a third of the way. Interesting. It seems that his rage is his downfall.  Sakura appears alright, daydreaming about the Uchiha, perched on a high branch. 

But my interest was mostly placed on Y/n. If I recall correctly, they told me they didn't possess chakra. I wonder how they'll pull this off. They walked up to a tree, convinction in their stride. They gently placed a hand on the trunk and closed their eyes. What are they doing? 

A smile appeared on their face and they walked backwards, getting a run-up. One foot forward, then another and another, each step increasing their speed as they sprinted to the tree, a foot on the trunk and they launched themselves up. 

I couldn't believe it. They were doing it. But how? Y/n L/n, you are a fascinating shinobi aren't you? 

They made it halfway up the tree before they slipped, falling back down. A smile formed underneath my mask. I can't wait to see what you achieve, Y/n.

It took them maybe 13 tries, but they managed to comfortably walk up and down the tree with ease. I, myself, walked down my tree and approached Y/n. 

"Can I talk to you?" 

They looked up at me, nodding. "Yeah, what's up?"

"How did you do that?" I asked, amazement slipping through into my voice. 

A proud grin spread across their face. 

"Well, I won't go into too many details but I can kinda earthbend now."

"Earthbend?" 

"Eh, well, I can connect to nature.... don't think about it too hard, it's just a fanfiction."

"It's what-"

"Nevermind!"
