Kakashi's P.O.V~

They all jumped away, dispersing into the trees. Good, a ninja must be able to conceal themselves. I hope they figure out the real meaning of this test. Looks like they're all well hidden- wait. Oh god. I stared at Naruto in front of me and tilted my head, disappointed but not surprised.

"Alright! Let's face off right here, you and me!"

'arrogant and ridiculously overconfident'

"Oh? Aren't you a little off-kilter?"

"The only thing off-kilter is your hairstyle!" Naruto retorted. I heard uncontrolled laughter and a thud, looking over I saw Y/n laughing on the ground. Looks like they fell off their tree. I deadpanned, it wasn't even that funny. They looked at me and grinned sheepishly before using a smoke bomb to disappear once again. My attention turned back to Naruto.

"I'll teach you the first Shinobi battle Jutsu. Taijutsu."

Reaching into my pouch, I took out Icha Icha Paradise and started reading. Hearing the faint sound of someone calling me a perv, I looked up and scanned the trees, looking for Y/n. It was quite obviously them.

"What's the matter? Why don't you come at me?" I asked the puzzled Naruto.

"But... what's with the book?"

"Because I was curious as to what happens next. Don't worry, with you guys as opponents, it makes no difference if I'm reading or not."

Infuriated, Naruto charged recklessly at me. I sighed and very easily dodged his pitiful attacks.

"Tsk tsk, a ninja shouldn't leave their back open and unguarded to the enemy, Naruto."

'That hand sign... tiger? Naruto's gonna get killed!!' Sakura panicked as Sasuke quietly observed, noting the fire Jutsu hand-sign.

"Naruto get out of there! You'll die" Sakura shouted out to him, yet made no move to help him herself.

'well at least they don't hate him entirely'

"It's too late... Secret leaf village taijutsu; One Thousand Years of Death!!!" I exclaimed, carrying out the extremely deadly move. He shot up into the sky like a rocket and I smirked, amused as I heard
Y/n's laughter ring out once again, shouting remarks like 'good one sensei' and 'is that even legal' making me shake my head and stand up. I watched Naruto land into the river with a splash. Sighing, I took my book out again and continued reading. Two shurikens flew out, calmly, I caught them on my fingers and looked back at the river where Naruto was crawling out of.

"what's the matter? You won't get lunch if you don't take a bell by noon."

Naruto gritted his teeth and looked down, "I know that already!! Damn it, I'm so hungry and I don't have any energy..."

I was about to turn around when the sounds of footsteps caught my attention. Y/n was staring at me, an aura of protectiveness and determination around them as they got into an offensive battle stance in front of Naruto who looked up at them with wide eyes.

"It's about time I stop watching the show and actually do something, isn't it? Naruto listen to me, we're not turning back now! We're a team. Me, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. We're stronger together. But right now, it appears the others aren't willing to cooperate. If we all fall back and come up with a plan, we'd easily take the bells." They said loud and clear, addressing their other teammates, almost scolding them for not wanting to work with them. They helped Naruto stand up and narrowed their eyes at me.

"I am L/n Y/n. And I how you all think of me. I know you all think I'm useless and have no business being here but I will earn the respect I deserve. Even if I haven't yet proved I can be a ninja, I will do what I can to earn your trust and prove that I'm worthy to be part of Team 7." Y/n said again, the last part aimed directly at me. Without warning, they launched at me with incredible speed.

'I guess they weren't kidding when they said they were fast. But not as fast as me.'

I dodged their attack and they grinned, coming at me again. They attack. I dodge. I attack. They dodge. This lasted maybe for a full minute before I managed to pin them down. They looked up at me with a smirk.

"ya know sensei, I said I'll help Naruto but did you really think he'd leave me to fight you all by myself?"

Confused, I looked back up at Naruto who was grinning as he ran up to me, followed by six other Naruto's. "Shadow clones?" I mumbled. I tried to stand up but Y/n smirked again and grabbed my arms and wrapped their legs around mine, trapping me in. Naruto was getting nearer and I scowled at Y/n, managing to break free of their hold just as Naruto had jumped up, readying to punch me. About to move, I froze, being held back by someone. I looked over my shoulder.

'There was a shadow clone behind me?'

The other Naruto's hung onto my limbs, holding me in place as Naruto was about to punch me. Smiling smugly, I chuckled. That was smarter than I would've given him credit for. But he's forgetting one of the most obvious ninjutsu- substitution. The Naruto's collided and then began turning on one another.

"NaRuTo," Y/n scolded, "he didn't turn himself into one of you, he used substitution, you dork."

Sulking, Naruto looked at them. "I didn't get the bells we're gonna fail." Smiling kindly, Y/n put an arm around his shoulder.

"Don't worry, we still have until noon. We'll come up with something by then I just know-"

Looking to the side, Naruto spotted a bell and ran up to it making Y/n panic.

"Wait, Naruto don't fall for it that's a-" they didn't have time to finish as Naruto got caught up in the trap. Y/n face-palmed and shook their head sadly as I stood next to them, picking up the bell.

"You have to think when using your Jutsu, they can always be used against you. Also, you should listen to Y/n here and not get caught up in obvious traps you fool. A ninja must see through deception." I looked at Y/n who was staring at Naruto pointedly. He pouted at them and waved about,

"I know that dattebayo!"

Y/n scoffed, "He's telling you that because you don't get it, get it?"

They then looked at me and reached their hand out, an innocent look on their face.

"Can I please have a bell, sensei?" They asked. Chuckling, I shook my head making them laugh and shrug.

"Yeah well, it was worth a shot right?"

The sound of Shuriken pierced the air and Y/n simply sighed, ducking down. Smirking at them, I let the shuriken hit 'me' and they shook their head with a knowing smile.

Naruto shouted out as Kakashi hit the floor.
