Chapter 13: Confrontation

"YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO YELL AT ME!"

Selena's eyes are full of anger. "After what you have done to me, you have no right to yell at me as if you were my parents." Ria and Tony look at their daughter with great disbelief.

"Why you! If it were not for us, you did not exist. How dare you talk to us like that! You ungrateful..." Before Tony could continue, Selena interrupts her father with a shout. "If it were not for me, were you able to move to where you are now? Were you able to spend all day shopping?!"

Both her parents cannot look straight into her eyes, and Selena laughs halfheartedly. Her father is about to turn off the call when Selena threatens him. "Once you end this call, I will make sure that you will have no money anymore, Pa." Ria could not believe what her daughter just said.

"SELENA! How could you say that?!" Selena smirks, "How could I? How about you, Mom? How could let Papa sell me off?! I am your daughter! But you used me as your ticket to richness!!"

Tony shamelessly speaks to her daughter, "Why are you even complaining? If we did not do what we did, do you think you are able to enter college? Is not that what you wanted? Thanks to us, you are reaching your dream."

Selena's anger has reached a maximum level. "Don't you dare! Do not use that to justify what you did! I could have entered even without you supporting me!". Her eyes are starting to tear up. "You are no longer my parents who thought nothing was my welfare. Do you think you did the right thing? Well, you are wrong. You did not even check if I'm okay here. I was worried about you two. I missed my parents even though they did a horrible thing." Selena starts crying while speaking. "Now that everything is clear to me, you do not have a daughter anymore." She wipes her tears and gives her parents a stern look. "And from now on, you will have no money to handle. Magnus will no longer support you. Do not even think of calling for help."

Before her parents could protest, Selena hangs up. She puts the phone on her side and screams while still crying, "Ahhhh!". The garden is full of painful cries and it hurts Miss Luna to see Selena in pain. Miss Luna has heard the entire conversation and she could not help but feel sorry for her. She then decides to speak to her grandson. She has an idea of what happened but she needs to confirm it.

Magnus is at the library. He was peacefully reading a book when suddenly the door bursts open. He puts the book aside. "Grandma? Is there something wrong?". Magnus can see his grandmother's serious look. He knows something is wrong.

"Tell me the truth, Magnus. Is Selena really your wife". Magnus is shocked but manages to look confused. "Grandma, of course, she is my wife. We got married. What has gotten into you?"

"Do not lie to me, Magnus. I heard Selena's conversation with her parents. Either you tell me what happened or I will never speak to you for a year!"

Magnus sighs. He knows his grandmother, she would not stop until I do what she wants. So Magnus has no choice but to tell her the whole story. Miss Luna unconsciously covers her mouth because of shock. She cannot believe what she heard.

"How could they do that to their daughter?". Miss Luna puts her hand on her chest, her heart is aching for Selena. She then looks at her grandson scarily. "And you! You should not have accepted their offer. You could have just bought the fields alone if you wanted to help them."

Magnus responds defensively, "Grandma, that is how business works.". Miss Luna is about to slap her grandson when the door opens again.

Selena enters the library with red, puffy eyes. "So is that really it is? I am just a payment you just received because you were obliged to? Nana is right. Why did not you just offer them to buy the fields and leave me out of the business?"
