Chapter 12: Painful truth

It is only a day left before Selena starts attending medical school. She feels excited. It has been her dream to go to college and be a doctor. She decided to explore the library of the mansion. She wants to read some medical books. Selena goes to the left wing of the mansion where Miss Luna directed her. She opens the door and a spacious room welcomes her. The library has bookshelves on the wall that contains tons of books. The bookshelves have divisions to categorize the books. At the center of the library, there is a sofa, a single couch, and a round glass coffee table.

Selena's eyes are twinkling with joy. She remarks, "What a cozy library.". She immediately enters the library and then closes the door behind her. She roams around and examines every bookshelf. There are labels to identify the category of the books such as General Fiction, Mathematics & Science, Sales & Marketing, Medicine, Magazines, Technology, and Construction. Selena is amazed, "Wow! I wonder if Magnus had read all of this."

Selena stops at the Medicine section grabs the book titled Clinical Surgery Volume 1. She sits on the single couch, opens the book, and starts exploring the table of contents. She has this habit of reading all the titles in the table of contents every time she got a hold of a book. "Wow! This is so interesting." Selena begins to read and got astonished by the 3D illustrations. "It is like really looking on the insides of a human body." She keeps flipping the pages. An hour later, Selena feels sleepy but she continues to read until her eyes give up. She falls asleep while holding a book.

Selena is awakened by the mumbles on her side. She slowly opens her eyes and sees that she is in the bedroom and is laying on the bed. On her right side is Miss Luna and on the left are Magnus and a doctor. She gets herself up while asking, "What happened?"

Miss Luna looks at her with worry, "You do not remember your time at the library?"

Selena responds confidently, "I remember and I fall asleep while reading." Miss Luna holds her hand and said, "You did not fall asleep, darling. You passed out. Magnus found you when he was looking for you to join us for dinner."

"I passed out?" Selena thinks, trying to remember anything, and then she insists, " No. I really just fell asleep."

Magnus speaks with a serious tone. "I tried waking you up but you would not wake up so we called our family doctor here to check you."

The doctor bows and reports his diagnosis. "Over fatigue. Your wife was tired that her body did not take it. It may the effect of having constant worry, stress, or anxiety. But do not worry, Miss Selena is fine, nothing serious. Glad she did not faint while walking or standing. She just needs rest."

"Thank you, Doc." The doctor smiles, "My pleasure. I will take my leave then." Magnus then signals the maid to escort the doctor.

Magnus looks at his grandmother. "You should rest, Nana. Selena should also rest. You can talk to her tomorrow." Miss Luna smiles at Selena, "Good night, dear."

Selena smiles back, "Thank you, Nana."

The bedroom is now quiet. Selena is feeling awkward again. Before she could start to say anything, Magnus speaks first. "Are you worried about your parents? Is the set-up is making you feel anxiety?" Selena is shocked but she cannot deny it nor acknowledge it is true. She just falls silent.

A minute later, she finds the courage to speak. "I am sorry I caused this disturbance. I did not mean to. I really just was reading and falls asleep. But could you let me sleep for now? I promise we will talk tomorrow."

Magnus pauses for a moment and looks at her. "Okay. Get some rest."

Selena pulls the blanket towards her chest and closes her eyes. Luckily, she was able to sleep comfortably. The next morning she is awakened by Miss Luna - reminding her that it is the first day in college. Selena cheerfully gets up from bed and goes towards the shower. She then rushes to the dining area to eat breakfast. Upon entering the room, she notices a person sitting in front of the table. His face was covered with a newspaper that he is reading. When the person puts down the newspaper to drink coffee, Selena is shocked. It was Magnus.
