Chapter 27: Suppressed feelings

"I am never going to fall in love again.", Eon keeps repeating this in his mind.

Eon questions himself. The hugs, he remembers how he hugs Odette. "It feels right. It feels that it is the thing I must do. I am so grateful towards her.", he thought. "Is it really being grateful or do I feel something towards her?", he gets up from laying on the bed suddenly and then he takes it back. "No, no, no. I am not going in there. I do not suitable to her anyway, just like with Selena.".

In the magic realm, higher rank fairies can only marry the same rank as them and Eon is in the middle. Eon sighs, "Love is complicated.". He then decides to get up early and take a walk.

Outside is so peaceful. Big trees are covering the surroundings. "I never thought my home could this beautiful. I never had time to appreciate it.". He starts to walk and looks around as if he is a tourist being in a place for the first time. He plans that his route will be going to the abandoned magical library.

He thought to himself while on his way, "I really had spent so much of my time in the forbidden forest.". Eon continues to walk until he reaches the library. He enters and sees that many flowers had blossomed. "Wow. This is amazing.". Flowers are everywhere. And then Selena suddenly pops upon his mind, wearing a white dress. He sighs, "I will forget, not right now but soon.".

"Forget about what?". Upon hearing it, he turns around and sees Odette, wearing a white dress. Eon is surprised but manages to speak.

"Odette, what are you doing here? It is still early in the morning.". Eon could not look Odette in the eyes so he decides to pretend to look for a book. He goes towards a bookshelf and starts scanning the books one by one.

"I could ask the same question to you.". Eon stops and looks at her with confusion and continues scanning while talking, "Then I would be answering my own question when I asked it first to you.".

"You are funny but witty at the same time.", Odette remarks. Eon smiles at her, "Thank you for the compliment. And so?".

"Fine.", Odette sits on the couch. "I cannot sleep and this is the only place that has no one to tell me that I should sleep.". Eon even though avoids eye contact with her, examines Odette.

"There is seem to be bothering you. May I ask what is it?".

Odette looks hesitant but decides to talk with Eon, "I am not really good at hiding, aren't I?", she laughs halfheartedly. "I am worried. We are going to fulfill our tasks soon. What if I fail? Everyone is expecting great things and what if I am not capable of that?".

"Are you kidding, Odette? Can't you see what you are capable of? Well, I can and so does the higher council. That is why they chose you."

Odette smiles at Eon. "Thank you. That means a lot.". Eon also smiles at her but unsuspectedly looks away. His heart is pounding abnormally seeing Odette smile. He then exclaims while looking at the window, "The sun is up. I think we should head back.". Eon stands up and leaves the book he was holding. Odette then follows.

While walking, Odette cannot stop smiling while imagining the look on Eon's face saying those words. She keeps on imagining that she did not even notice Eon on her side.

"Odette, I will see you at magic school, okay?".

Odette is in a daze but manages to respond, "Okay. I will see you later then.".

As soon as he arrives home, Eon rushes to his bedroom. "How is it possible that whenever I look at Odette, I see Selena?". He sighs, "We are friends and I cannot stay not looking at her. She might notice, and would be unfair to avoid her.". Eon looks at the ceiling because of frustration. He sighs again and starts preparing.
