Chapter 38: Never again

Selena goes to the garden and stays at the gazebo. She cannot bear to see Magnus in the bedroom. All she thinks to do is to yell at him. She is feeling anger is filling her body. "I am so stupid, pathetic, gullible, and naive.". She laughs at herself recalling the times she stops herself not to let her guard down. "I should have listened to my other part of me.". Selena stares at the corner of the garden. Her mind could only think about Magnus.

"I never hate him more than now. Why did I believe that jerk?". Selena begins to cry. Her eyes are filled with tears that slowly flowing down. She recalls the day Magnus said 'I love you' to her. "It felt so real. I can see it through his eyes that loves me. But what I did not know is that he is the kind of man who will hide the truth and that includes his expression and his eyes.". She laughs slightly. "Well, I got to know your father more, baby.". She looks at her stomach and caresses it. She keeps caressing it while looking blankly.

For an hour, Selena did not leave where she is. She is now swinging while feeling the cold breeze. "I am glad I put on a jacket or else, it will be two of us who are going to be cold.". She sighs and takes out the bottle of wine on her back. She stares at it and at her stomach. "Will you be okay if I drink this? It is not that alcoholic.". After a moment of silence, Selena starts opening the bottle. "It will be just this once. Okay, baby? Mommy just want to drink to express.".

Selena keeps swinging, staring at nothing, and drinking a bottle of wine. She would look up to the sky and then drinks again. "Oh my. This is a good wine. It tastes like grape juice.". She looks down and stares at the half-empty bottle. She starts crying again. Selena hugs the bottle and cries. She cannot control her voice so her sobs are heard. The garden is filled with crying. After crying a lot, she wipes her eyes and sighs deeply. She drinks again.

A strong wind passes the garden. It made Selena hug herself, "Whoa. It is so cold but nice." She then lays on the swing chair and stargazers. She sighs again and is about to drink wine when she realizes it is already empty. She stands up and throws the bottle. It hit the rock pavement and made a shattering noise. Selena is not bothered by the mess she made. "I should get another one.", she mutters to herself. She walks out of the garden and back into the mansion. She goes to the kitchen and looks at the cabinet where she got her first bottle. It took her minutes to find another bottle of what she had just drunk. "Aha! I finally found you.". Selena covers her immediately, realizing she had just shouted. She goes out of the kitchen and off her way to the garden.

Upon arriving, she sees that Magnus is there, standing and looking at the pavement where the broken bottle is. She approaches Magnus, remembering she does not want to talk to him. She thought to herself, "Hmmm... Maybe this is the wine talking.". But she continues to walk towards him and asks, "What are you doing here?". Magnus did not answer her question and looks at her with a stern face. He asks, "Did you do that?" while pointing to the broken bottle on the ground.

Selena looks at it and then to Magnus, "And what if I did? What are you going to do about it? It is not as if I threw it at you.". She sits on the swing chair. She is about to open the bottle of wine when Magnus snatches it. "What if you got hurt? What if a broken piece had gotten you hurt?". Selena looks at her husband with a serious face, "Are you for real? Now you are worried about me. Save it, Magnus. You cannot fool me again.". Then she snatches the bottle back and opens it.

Magnus falls silent while watching his wife drink. He sighs and tries to snatch the bottle but Selena anticipated it so she manages to get the bottle away from his reach. "Give me that bottle, Selena. It is not good for you.". Selena laughs, "Why do you care? You know what? Instead of scolding me, why don't you go to sleep?".

"Scolding? I am not scolding you. You are pregnant for Pete's sake and here you are drinking wine. Alcohol is not good for you.".

Selena could not believe what she just heard. It made her laugh and clap. "Wow! Just wow. Since when did you care about my pregnancy? Huh?! Alcohol is not good? Do not worry, my jerk husband. It is not going to kill MY child. Do you know what is going to kill him before he can even be born? HIS father asking his mother to abort him!" Magnus did not answer and snatch the bottle again. He successfully takes the bottle away from his wife. "You are drunk already. Let's go. You have to rest.". He grabs Selena by the wrist but Selena struggles to be free from his grip.
