Chapter 37: Pregnancy disaster

Selena wakes up, sweating, and crying. She is catching her breath as she gets up. She puts her hand on her chest. Her heart is racing. Selena closes her eyes and sighs deeply. As she opens her eyes again, she realizes something, "Oh my, it is morning already." She gets out of bed immediately and as soon she stands up, she feels nauseous. Selena feels she is going to throw up so she rushes to the bathroom and gets on her knees on the bathroom toilet. Selena then throws up. She feels weak after.

Selena decides to come down and asks for medicine. She goes to the kitchen while her hand is on her stomach. Miss Luna who sees her first come rushes closer to her. "Are you okay, dear? What happened to you?". Selena faintly smiles at Miss Luna, "I do not feel good, Nana. I just throw up a while ago.".

Miss Luna looks at her grandson, "Magnus, maybe you should take her to the hospital.". Selena disagrees immediately, "No, I am okay. It will fade soon. I cannot miss class today. I have an important recitation.". Magnus stands up after eating breakfast, "Well, it got canceled so I will take you to the hospital.". Selena is shocked and looks at Magnus suspiciously. Magnus is about to leave the kitchen when Selena asks him, "Did you do something about it? Why it got canceled?". Magnus looks at her and did not answer her question, instead, "We will be leaving in 20 minutes so eat your breakfast and get dressed.". He then continues to leave the kitchen.

Miss Luna and Selena are puzzled. But still, Selena does what her husband said. After 20 minutes, Magnus and Selena go out of the front porch and go in the car. On their way to the hospital, Magnus has the serious look on his face. Selena is getting nervous. She looks at her husband from time to time instead of looking at the window. She thought, "He has not said anything or he is just focusing on the road.". She sighs quietly and waits to arrive.

Upon arriving, Magnus goes out immediately of the car while saying, "Come on, we are going to be late for our appointment.". Selena feels hurt because the Magnus that is with her is different. He did not even open the door for her like he used to. Selena comes out of the car with a heavy heart and follows Magnus entering the hospital. She is behind him so she could only see his back. While walking, she would look at the labels, and Magnus stops at the label stating ob-gyn. Selena suddenly then realizes everything. She recalls the symptoms. "He notices it all and concludes it instead of me. I have not thought that this would happen.", she thought to herself.

Magnus opens the door and enters instantly. Selena follows. The doctor asks a few questions and then made her go to the bathroom to use the pregnancy test. It tested positive. "Let us do the ultrasound.", Magnus immediately commands. Selena lays on the bed. She lifts her blouse until the stomach is visible. Then the doctor starts to use the ultrasound equipment.

"Congratulations. You are two weeks pregnant.", the doctor finally announced. Selena could not tell whether to be happy or shock. But upon hearing the news, she knows she is happy, she feels it. She looks at Magnus with a very wide smile but seeing her husband does not seem to be happy, her smile fades. They leave the office without Magnus saying anything so as soon as they left the room, Selena confronts her husband. "Why are you not saying anything? Are you not happy? We are having a baby. We are going to be parents.".

Magnus looks at Selena but his face still has the stern look. "It is only two weeks. We can still remove it.". Selena could not believe what she is hearing. "What? What did you say?". Magnus looks away and did not respond. Selena continues to talk, "I did not just hear you said to remove it, right?". Selena is hoping that she has just misheard her husband. But with Magnus' serious face, she is starting to lose her balance. She could not believe it.

"Remove it? He is not a thing.". Selena confronts him. Magnus did not look at her and did not reply either. She continues to talk, "This is our child, Magnus. Your own flesh and blood. Please.". She begins to cry and pleading he husband. Minutes later, Magnus did not respond at all and leaves. She could only watch her husband walking away from her. She puts her hand on her stomach and talks, "Do not worry, my little one. Your daddy is just a little confused. I will protect you no matter what.". She caresses her stomach. She then stands and begins to walk out of the hospital. She goes to the parking lot and sees that Magnus waited for her.
