Chapter 24: First love never die easily

"It is just a dream. Just a dream.". Eon sighs and looks around. He is still in his room. He lays back to his bed, still breathing deeply. Eon stares at the ceiling and thought of something, "This is the first time that I had a nightmare. Did something happen to her? Or this is the result of thinking about her lately?". He pauses and continues staring at the ceiling. Eon realizes something, "Odette was there. She appeared in my dreams.".

Eon cannot help but think that his dreams have a significant meaning. The next morning, he told his parents that he had a nightmare for the first time.

His father points out that, "In our realm, we do believe that dreams convey a little of the truth about the future. It is a rare case actually.".

Eon looks at his father, "What do you mean, Dad? That dreams do not often happen to us?". Ria replies to her son, "Yes, dear. Fairies do not usually dream, including me and your father. You are one of those rare fairies that have dreams. But do not worry, because of its rareness, it happens to a fairy once or twice only.".

Eon cannot stop thinking about the dream. He is trying to decipher what his future is based on the dream. "Seeing Selena in the dream maybe would mean we are meant to see each other again but it feels like it will not be a good meeting.". He arrives at the magic school and proceeds to the designated room he is in. He talks to himself while walking, "No, Eon, do not let your hopes up. She is not coming back, okay?". Eon sighs, "Maybe I had the dream because I am still hoping she would return.".

Eon arrives at the room and sits in his seat. "But what was Odette doing in my dream?". Then he sees Odette coming into his way. He thinks, "I think I know why. I was bothered by her being the only one approaching me and speaking to me.".

Odette finally had come closer to Eon. "Hey. Were you looking at me?". Eon looks at her and starts speaking straightforward, "Because I am curious about something.". She is confused, "What is it?"

"You are the only one who approaches me, talking to me, and sometimes defending me. I mean, why? Why do you keep doing that?". Odette smiles at him, "Isn't it obvious? I want to be your friend. And it is not because I pity you if you are thinking that.".

"Then why? Why would you want to be friends with someone like me?".

Odette slightly laughs, "What do you mean someone like me? What are you? A monster?". Eon just looks at her, feeling a little embarrassed. When Odette sees that he has the serious look, she looks at him intently, "It is because you are not like the others.".

"I was born as the daughter of the leader of the higher village. Some would say I am lucky but for me, it is pressuring. All of the fairies would expect great things from me and I felt that the other fairies wanted to be my friend because of my rank. Seeing you have no friends and you still pursue what you wanted to do even though everyone criticized you for it, it makes me see you possessing sincerity and integrity."

Eon is speechless but manages to comment, "Wow. That is... I... I do not know what to say. But thank you. You are the only one who claims that.". He smiles at her and Odette smiles back, "So friends?". Eon nods, "Yes. Friends.".

Since then, Eon and Odette spend time together. Other fairies always look at them when they walk together going to magic school and going home. They would whisper and start rumors but Eon and Odette did not mind them.

"Are you not nervous being seen with me? I mean, your father might know you are interacting with someone like me.".

Odette sighs, "Eon, come one, stop saying someone like you. You are just like me, a fairy that belongs here in the magic realm. And do not worry, my father will not get mad. We are not doing anything bad.".
