"Father!" Donnie called out after he and Raph entered their underground lair. He had Leo on his back while Raph had Mikey on his.

Splinter emerged from his room and gasped at the sight. "My son's! What happened?!" He quickly headed over to them.

"We were attacked," Raph replied, "by someone we've never seen before. He was huge and his arms could extend Into chains with sharp blades".

"We left him wrapped up in his own chains in the field. We didn't get to finish him off though" Donnie said.

"It's alright boys, you did the right things bringing your brothers here as quick as you could. Come, let's get them to your lab Donnie". Donnie nodded and they both followed after Splinter.

Leo's POV

I woke up not too long after I was brought back home. As soon as I regained conciusness I tried sitting up asking about Mikey. Raph stopped me and explained that Mikey was still unconscious, but alive, and was sleeping in the bed next to me.

I looked over and immidiatly felt ill from guilt. He almost looked like a mummy with how many bandages he had wrapped around him. I was the one who told him to go out there, alone. I should have been there...I'm so sorry Mikey...I hope you can forgive me.

Later that night I had moved from my bed and moved a chair next to Mikey's bed. I sat down and held his hand. He still hasn't woken up.

My hand tightened as tears blured my vision. "I'm sorry Mikey" I cried. "I failed you. I failed all of you". I burried my face in the sheets next to him as I sobbed. "I'm such a failure. I don't diserve to be your leader".

"You forgot what I told you" a voice spoke. I gasped and looked up to see Uasagi standing on the other side of the bed. His arms were crossed and he looked at me with a frown.

"U...Usagi? What are you-"

"I came as quickly as I heard. But nevermind that for now". he pulled up a chair and sat down to be at eye level with me. "Do you remember what I told you the last time you said you failed?"

I looked down at Mikey's hand. "You said...that failure is inedible...and that what matters is how we let it effect us" I said.

"Then why are you bringing yourself down about it?" He asked sternly.

I wiped a stray tear away. "I... I'm sorry. I just...hate failing them. They're all counting on me. If they die, it's on me. I can't ever let that happen".

"When the leader fails, the brother will die trying" Usagi spoke. I looked back up at him with wide eyes. "You can say you failed them all you want. You can even say you don't diserve to be their leader. But you will always be their brother, Leo. They love you. Nothing will change that. They could all die in your arms and it still wouldn't mattered if you 'failed' them or not. All that matters if that you're there for them. You shouldn't be blaming yourself for things out of your control anyway. No one knows what the future holds, and the past can be painful to look back on. That's why you have to stay in the present. Otherwise you won't get anywhere. Do you understand?" He asked.

I looked at him, kinda amazed. His words had filled me with new hope. I was overcome with emotions and stared to cry again. Usagi walked around the bed and pulled me in for a hug. "it's alright, Leo" he whispered softly to me. "You're alright".

I sobbed into his chest and clinged to his Kimono. "I'm sorry I forgot, Usagi" I cried.

"Don't be sorry" Usagi spoke softly.

"You're right though. I can't keep beating myself up for it. I have to keep moving forward, for my family" I said with new determination.

He smiled down at me as I pulled away. "There's the Leo I know" he said sweetly.

I smiled too. I hoped his words would stick to me forever.

I fell asleep after waiting by Mikey's bed side for a few hours. I woke up to Uasgi picking me up and putting me back in bed. "Go back to sleep young hero" he whispered. In my drowsy state, I did as told and closed my eyes as he tucked me in.

The next time I woke up I heard giggling. I felt something on my face and opened my eyes. Mikey pulled away with a huge grin, marker in hand.

"Mikey!" I called out. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close. "Thank goodness you're alright!" I cheered. I then remembered the marker in his hand and pulled away looking at him suspiciously. "What did you do to me?"

"Have a look for yourself" he said holding up a mirror. I had a drawn on mustache and monacle, and the words "Sir Buttcheeck face" written across my forehead.

"Hm" I said ammiring his work. "I think I look rather dashing" I said impersonating some smug rich guy. Mikey giggled to himself. I shook his hand. "Greetings young lad, Sir Buttcheeck face is the name. How do you do?" I said. Mikey laughed even harder. "As you can tell, I am VERY rich. I invested in the Buttcheeck market back in 1925".

"What?!" Mikey laughed so hard he teared up.

I heard another voice chuckling from the doorway. It was Usagi. I felt my cheecks go red from embarrassment.
"Greeting young lads" he said walking over to us.

"H-hi Usagi" I said pulling my blanket over my head like a hood.

"Hey Usagi!" Mikey greeted.

"I'm glad to see you two are doing a bit better" he said.

"Yeah, the painkillers help a bit" I mumbled. "We still shouldn't be moving around so much though" I admitted. "You should get in bed Mikey".

"Okay!" He said climbing in next to me.

"That's not what I- oh, whatever" I laughed and placed a hand on his head.

"Mikey! Leo! You're awake!" Donnie said after walking in. He called out for the others and soon the whole family were surounding us in a group hug.

"Hey guys" I giggled.

"Are you feeling okay my son's?" Splinter asked.

I looked to Mikey, then to Usagi, and finally back to Father. "Yeah" I said smiling. "We're going to be okay".
