Eren and Mikasa board the lifeboats as Armin makes his way over to them, shuffling past people and ignoring the shouts of his grandfather.
"Mikasa, Eren," Armin speaks softly, making sure not to startle them.
A short wave of relief sparks in the two's eyes when they hear Armin's voice, "Armin!" Eren shouts.
"You both made it." A small smile appears on Armin's lips, "Where's Y/n?" Armin looks around and the feeling of relief he had gotten quickly disappears. A hindering thought that he didn't want to believe lurked in the back of his mind.
The pair's eyes widen and fall silent. Eren shelters up in his knees and Mikasa her scarf, "I- I don't know." Eren says.
"You don't know?" Armin swallows, stopping briefly.
"N- no."
"Did something happen to them?" Armin asks, but he's met with silence.
Mikasa grips her scarf tightly as
tears well up in her eyes, threatening to fall as she wipes them away, but they kept coming back, "N- no. . . They're alive. . . They have to be. . ."Armin feels his heart crack slightly from how broken Mikasa was, never having seen her this sad.
"Where's your mom?" Armin asks. Eren's eyes go wide and Armin slaps his hands to his mouth, immediately regretting his idiocy, "S- sorry." He says, muffled.
Armin sinks in his spot. What would he say? All he could give for the two of his friends and everyone else on the lifeboat was sympathy and sorrow.
The two of them attempted to suppress their sniffles and sobs to no avail. Armin watched his two friends as his lips thinned and he cowered where he was, unable to do a thing.
"Why am I so useless?" Mumbles Armin to himself. Tears start to form in his eyes and within a few seconds, he's crying like Mikasa and Eren, "T- this can't be real. . ." Armin wipes his tears and shakes his head, unwilling to believe this is reality.
Eren grits his teeth and stands up, slamming his hands on the taffrail as he looks onwards towards the chaos of Shiganshina, "I'll kill them. . ." Eren stops for a bit as Y/n's words roam in his head.
"I just want to live in peace with the people I care about."
"Every last one of them that's in this world. . ." Armin looks at Eren and the face he was making. A psychotic grimace that spelled anger.
"I'll kill every one of them!" He grips the taffrail harder, almost making splinters in his hands from how much force he was putting in.
"E- Eren!"
Before Armin could continue, a loud bang and a crash in the distance roared through the sky, catching everyone's attention. Eyes went wide as they went towards the origin of the sound, the wall.
Smoke and dust disappeared and from it appeared a large Titan. 15 meters in height and a brown rock-like armor covering it from head to toe.
"W- what is that?"
"Is that s- something covering it?"
