"You must be out of your mind." Y/n spoke in utter disbelief. He, along with the other Scouts stood around Rayvon as Rayvon cleaned off his gear, attempting to make the entire thing look spotless.

"Am I? It doesn't seem like a hard task." Rayvon grabbed a wet cloth and dragged it down the blade on the table, then flipping the blade over and doing the same to the other side, "You can beat him. You're a Titan, he's not. I'm sure you've been wanting to ever since the court trial."

"M- Maybe, but I don't have a death wish!" Y/n stumbled over his words, the absurd thought of him being able to beat the Captain fled from him as quick as it came.

"Well, he's not wrong." Eren hummed as he looked up at the ceiling, picturing Y/n in his Titan form, towering over the Captain, "I think you can do it."

"That's right!"

"Yeah! You have a Titan!"

"Go show him who's boss!"

Y/n was fed up with all of them. He knew he couldn't beat the Captain. Titan or not, it wasn't happening. Not in this life time. The door behind him slowly opened with the Captain himself stepping in. He had gone unnoticed by all the Scouts, their eyes were focused on Y/n.

"I'm not going to fight Captain Levi!" Y/n shouted, silencing all the murmuring voices around him. His voice echoed in the empty room, until that too was drowned out by the silence, "What?"

"I- It's him!" Another Scout shouted and covered his mouth.

"What's this about, brats?" Levi's voice rang in Y/n's ear over and over again. Those four words repeated in his head and his heart stopped.

"C- Captain Levi?" Y/n slowly and hesitantly turned around, awaiting the beating he was about to receive.

"You're not going to fight me?" Levi asked as his head tilted slightly, his expression still as apathetic as usual.

Y/n stood there. Running through all the options in his head. Maybe he could say that he misheard him. Or maybe he could just run. Y/n sighed and slumped over, his head dropping, "I'd like to challenge you to a fight, Captain Levi." And the words slipped out his mouth like nothing. The crowd gathered around the two gasped, but a slight smile appeared on Rayvon's lips.

Levi stared at him for a moment, registering the idiot's words, but he made nothing of it, "It'll be tomorrow, brat. Be ready." Levi said and opened the door behind him, hovering by the door as he looked back at the crowd, "And clean this filth." With that he shut the door and stepped out.

Y/n breathed out heavily, unknowing holding his breath through the last part of that exchange, "What did I do?" Y/n took a seat and brought his palm to his forehead. He could feel his heart beating rapidly, his hands shaking, and his head completely blank.

"Signed your own death wish." Eren said, his eyes still wide. He was just as worried for Y/n as Y/n was about himself.

"Well it's not that bad. You could leave town if you need to. Maybe like, a visit with someone else." Elias spoke up and raised his hand, deep within the crowd. Making his way to the front, he looked at Y/n and nervously rubbed the back of his neck, "I could take you to Sina."

"Shut it, you nuisance." Rayvon glared at Elias which shut him down immediately, "You have to fight him. There's no where you can go without his permission." He then looked at the whole crowd, "And you'd be disappointing a lot of people."

Y/n stood up and came face to face with Rayvon, the two staring each other in the eyes, an intense aura between the two.

"I'm gonna die." Y/n said as his head dropped and he grabbed Rayvon's shoulders, "You have to go for me. I can't to that."

"You could try! You never know!" Elias said optimistically. Grinning and all.

"Then you go." Y/n turned to him and motioned with his head to the door behind him. Elias chuckled and backed away.

"This is your mess." Rayvon took Y/n's hands off his shoulders and gave him a deadpanned look.

"My mess?! You're were one encouraging me to go fight him!" Y/n shouted, pointing at him. Eren silently and slowly slipped into an unnoticeable part of the crowd.

"Come on." Rayvon grabbed Y/n's wrist and dragged him out the mess hall, leaving the others to converse about the upcoming event.

"Where the hell are we headed?" Y/n asked as the mess hall grew further and further away, getting smaller in the distance, "Well, there goes cleaning the place."

Rayvon stopped at the Training Grounds, the abrupt stop making Y/n lose his balance and get thrown, his head whiplashing against the rock, hard ground, "O- ow! Shit. . ." Y/n sat up and rubbed his temple, "That was definitely on purpose."

Rayvon hummed and looked at him, "Maybe." The two sat in silence for a bit, just staring at each other.

"So did you blink first or did I?"

"Stand up." Rayvon said as Y/n did what he instructed to, "Now come on. Legs apart." Rayvon said as Y/n did just that, "Have your feet at a slight angle. Make sure to properly align your feet with your knees, they should be about even."

Y/n looked at him as if he was speaking a completely different language, "Uh. . ."

Rayvon shook his head and looked at Y/n, "We'll be here all day."

A few hours passed and the now battle-ready Y/n was prepared for anything that could be thrown at him. Y/n and Rayvon had done a few practice matches, but most ended in failure for the former.

"So, what do you do?." Rayvon asked and crossed his arms. He had hoped Y/n had learned something from the numerous hours and beatings he had taken.

"Legs are a slight angle, feet and knees aligned. . ." Y/n whispered each step to himself, doing each one right after his whispered it, "Distribute the weight evenly on both legs. . ."

Rayvon's lips curved into a small smile, feeling proud of a complete idiot for learning something like this, "Good."

Y/n smiled and stretched, feeling accomplished and all-set to take on Levi, "Well, guess now, we wait."

Rayvon walked over to Y/n and put a hand on his shoulder, his eyes full of hope and for the first time, optimistic about the outcome of this situation, "You've got it." Rayvon looked up at the sky that was now completely dark, the veil of night covering everything around them. A little too dark at that.

"Huh? Why's it so dark?" Y/n asked and looked around. Everything was pitch black. Not a single thing was to be seen for miles.

"It's time to wake up." Rayvon said with a hum.

"What?"

Y/n sat up in the bed and looked around, seeing that he was back in his room. His breathing was surprisingly calm and he didn't recall ever fighting Levi, "What?"

"H- hm?" Y/n's voice woke Mikasa as he eyes slowly opened and landed on Y/n sitting up, "Something wrong?" She asked.

Y/n looked at her, unsure of what to say. He sighed and smiled, laying back down, "Nevermind. It's nothing." He let out a relieved huff of air and turned back toward Mikasa, closing his eyes and once again, falling asleep.

Mikasa looked at him and his peaceful state. She always loved to see him happy. Not saying word, she smiled and closed her eyes, falling asleep once again, just as fast.
