Maybe I'm afraid to fall in love with you, because you are my best friend. And if it doesn't work out, you are the only one I want to comfort me.

I wake up to the sound of the rain. And when I look outside, the sky is grey, not a thing to see. Most people wouldn't like waking up, knowing that they probably won't see any sun today.
But not me.Actually, I love the rain. Mostly the sound of it. It makes me feel calm, it makes me feel free. And if I want to dance with you in the rain? Hell yes.
I sing my daily 'Good morning, good morning!' while stretching out my arms.
Two seconds later, I hear Theo singing back, "Good morning to you too, Shai!"
It's only then that I smell the coffee and pancakes, coming from the kitchen. And I got to say, it smells delicious.
I swing my legs out of bed, feeling much better than I did yesterday. Before pulling the handle down to open the door to the living room, I grab some pants to cover up my bare legs. Theo probably wouldn't mind seeing me without pants on, but I'd rather not be ashamed. You know, it isn't dark anymore, like last night. And since Theo already made some sexual comment on it back then, it wouldn't be a miracle if he did it again.
When I take my first step into the living room, the smell of pancakes hits me.
"Wow Theo, this smells so good," I groan and make my way to the kitchen table.
"I know right," he smirks and places two cups of coffee right before my eyes. "Since you let me sleep here, I could at least make you some breakfast, don't you think?"
"That makes me feel bad. I didn't give you anything for all the times you let me stay over at your place," I mumble. I close my eyes and let myself enjoy the smell of coffee, while Theo walks back to take the pancakes from the counter.
"Oh no?," he says, "What about the happily woman, who sang and danced each morning? I don't think anyone else ever succeeded in making me laugh that early in the day."
I let out a little laugh, having the memory replay itself in my head. "That's just me, Theo. I didn't exactly do that to make you happy," I grin, "That's just the normal me."
Placing the pancakes on the table, he says, "Just you is enough then, Shai. I don't need any present for having you around me."
I chuckle and blush, smiling at him. "Thanks," I say with a little voice.
-----
After my third pancake and two cups of coffee, my stomach is as full as it could be.
"Seriously, Theo. This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had," I say.
"You must be kidding, this was probably one of the most simple ones you've ever had," he tells me and I see him blushing a little bit.
"You're right, I've had more spectacular breakfasts than pancakes. But simple is good, simple is great," I say and smile. "It was delicious, Theo."
And I'm speaking the truth. You'd make me happier with a simple homemade breakfast than with a breakfast at some fancy hotel. I enjoy eating simple things, it doesn't always have to be special or spectacular.
When I want to take his plate he grabs my wrist, stopping me.
I still wonder how a single touch from him can feel like magic. When Theo touches me, it feels like everything around us fades, like we're the only ones on earth.
