30 - Please pick up

  Knock knock

  "Come in the doors unlocked." Mum said loud enough so I could hear.

  "So what did she say?" Mum continued.

  "She said Rose stays." I replied her glaring at Rose who was sitting opposite mum.

  Rose's mood was lifted when she heard what I said but shrank back down to a pitiful puppy when I glared at her.

  "Reason?" Mum questioned her tone was calm as if she expected the reply.

  "She fell asleep before I could ask." I half lied.

  'Well technically she did fall asleep but it was also my fault I got mad and didn't ask her.'

  "But I would guess she thinks Rose is innocent." I continued as I walked closer to mum.

  "But then again it might be because it's easier to gain this hypocrite Rose's trust this way, for the poisoning case also if it isn't Rose surely her being a doctor's child would help us in our search..." I whispered softly knowing that only mum would be able to catch what I said.

  "Fine... Rose you are not suspend nor are you expelled." Mum declared in a serious voice which was not often seen by me and Athy.

  Rose sat up straight happy that she got out of this situation without being expelled or suspended.

  "But." Mum continued which made Rose slightly shiver.

  "You will serve detention for 1 month. Also do community service around the school." Mum said which Rose happily agreed relived that it wasn't anything she couldn't handle.

  'In my option that's too light but.... I'm sure Athy knows what she wants, plus if she doesn't like what was imposed I'm sure mum would change it to her liking.'

  "You are now dismissed." Rose stood up from the chair did a 90° bow and darted out of the office.

  "How's Athy?" Mum immediately asked once Rose was out of sight.

  "She's fine now just sleeping."

  "Locked the door?"

  "Duh!"

  "Thank goodness." Mum slummed down back onto her chair.

  "I'm surprised you were so worried..."

  "I already gave you my approval for her to be your girlfriend twice! Do you think I don't care about her?"

  "Seriously though why did you have to say it in code?"

  "Because then it would seem more cool! Like a detective case!" Mum said happily.

  "Seriously?"

  "What.. it's fun!"

  "Fine... Fine... But why was the code 'Aww look at you two! Acting like a couple!'" I said in a mocking voice trying to replicate her voice in a distorted way.

  "Cause why not?" Mum replied.

  "I would've preferred you to say it directly."

  'So that I can see her blushing face.'

  "Oh come on don't ruin the fun."

  "I'm wondering if your the parent here or am I the parent..." I sighed as I faced palmed myself.

  I heard mum chuckle at me.

  "We should go see Athy. I haven't seen her since you told me she.... Fainted? Is that the correct word?" Mum said getting up from her chair.

  "Well technically she fell asleep." I corrected mum as I walked to the door.

  "Fell asleep and woke up with pain all over their body?" Mum questioned back.

  "Yes thanks to the ' marvelous ' pill that hypocrite Rose made."

~Athy(POV)~

  Cluck cluck.

  The sound of the door trying to be forcefully opened woke me up.

  'Who the hell is that...' I thought in my head slightly worried.

  'Lucas has the key so he would not be trying to break down the door knob...' I struggled to sit up.

  'And I can barely even get up... Let alone doge or run away.... But there's no other door here so where would I run to.'

  I heard the sound the door knob clucking getting louder as if whoever was trying to open it is now using for force.

  'I need a plan C!' I felt myself start panicking as I looked around for anything.

  'Why is the sick bay so safe!' I saw that there was almost nothing around me I could use.

  'The fire extinguisher is to heavy for me... There's no way I can lift the table in this state!'

  Suddenly the door clucking stopped....

  "Why won't this door open!" I heard the a person shout outside.

  It was a low voice...

  Definitely a guy...

  But it wasn't low enough to be Lucas's voice....

  Not that I ever suspected it would be.

  It was familiar...

  But I couldn't place my finger on it...

  More like I had no time to think about who the voice belonged to.

  'Am I safe?'

  But I immediately got up when I heard a metal clucking at the door.

  'Someone is trying to pick at the door!' I had no choice I ignored the pain that strikes me everytime I move.

  'I need to buy some time for me to think!' I spotted a wooden chair on the far corner of the room.

  I picked up a chair that was quite tall so it was quite heavy.

  I felt my heart start beating rapidly as I was panicking...

  I placed it slanted at the door preventing it from opening.

  'Who ever is outside is going to break down the door after they find that it won't open.' I needed a solution and I needed it now!

  I noticed a phone which was beside the bed that was now quite far away from me.

  'There's a phone over here!!' I was so glad but I had to limb over there and endure the pain.

  'Why didn't I notice it earlier!' I cursed at myself knowing now how much easier it could've been to get help.

  My mind was never good at working under stress...

  'Ugh! This pain is killing me!' every step I took it felt like I was walking on spikes, and everytime I moved my hand it felt like there were metal plates attached to them with lava coating it.

  'I need to call Lucas....' I dialed his number which was the only number I memorized by heart.

  Lucas number was the only thing I could remember.

  I had memorized Kiel and Jennette's number but....

  At that very moment there was only one person...

  One number in my mind...

  Lucas...

  Please pick up....
